Very clean, friendly staff. Beautiful hotel. I enjoyed the poolside. If you want to disconnect El Rancho is one of the place to stay. The restaurant serves both indoor and outdoor. There is also a nice buffet On Sunday’s. I recommend anyone who’s never stayed...there to try it.More
The average Haitian could never afford the price of a meal, and even for Americans it's rather expensive for what you get, but it is one of the finer restaurants in Port-au-Prince.
As a tourist you want to try new foods, tasting the local cuisine,...but more importantly, you don't want to be sidelined by parasites and digestive problems. The El Rancho is a safe bet.
We had dinner at the restaurant three of the five nights while staying at the El Rancho Hotel. We were there during the recent rioting, so we nearly had the entire place to ourselves. Service was good. Being the only customers, waitresses were standing around with nothing to do, anxious to serve. The dinner menu was limited, but good.
Outshining dinner was the breakfast buffet. Help yourself to both local and hardy American style food, with small pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, rolls and baguette, and an assortment of small pastries. For a surprise, on the side table are a series of hot serving trays. Take off the lids and sample some of the more interesting dishes, such as spaghetti with tomato sauce - yes, they eat it for breakfast - and other unfamiliar foods. Since it was a buffet, you could sample items you wouldn't normally order. Coming from a part of the United States where buffets are a feast for the eyes and tastes, this didn't compare. However, by Haitian standards, this was a filling welcomed start to the day.More
We made a special reservation for up to 25 people to be seated in a designated area. The event organizers clearly understood our needs, and even promised to put balloons, umbrellas, and seat covers, which we did not expect. When we got there the day...of the event, the bartender was told a few minutes earlier to set tables for 15 people, and in front of the pool. Nothing else was set: no balloons, no seat covers, no umbrellas. And the guests had to wait over for their mimosa drink.
Finally they agreed to seat us per our previous agreement, but with a lack of coordination: each waiter wanted to do it in their own. Very slow.
Finally, food was good, although a bit salty.
We saw one of the women with who we made the arrangements, but no apologies.More
I recently gave this hotel a 5 star review, but realized something very important wa left out. I choose to stay at this hotel with my husnband, while the entire rest of my family stayed at a nearby hotel. Very much worth it!
my husband and i spent our anniversary there in sep 2018, the exceptional agent Garry that took care of us from the moment we stepped in at the front desk, was very pleasant, professional, enthusiastic, El rancho should be proud to have him as part...of their team. Garry because of your service we will definitely return to El Rancho.More
We stayed from September 5-7. Check in was wonderful. We had a mountain view room; but, upgraded to a pool view with a terrace- great choice. Room was super comfortable, clean, and quiet. Hi end services. Pool was nice. Light meal on the first night...was good.
Wonderful and accommodating staff. Safe environment in Port-au-Prince.More
