This place has it all. Charm, history, service, great food and great people. I very much recommend the Arroz con Habichuelas y Bistec Encebollado (Rice and Beans with Steak and Onions) but pretty much anything here is good. I don't rate it higher because 1 - finding parking at La Placita is hellish 2 - their hours seem to be... More

My friend and I visited El Popular last Saturday October 1, 2016. This is a traditional local criollo food Restaurant at La Placita de Santurce. We had been there many times. Whenever we want to eat real criollo food that is the place. Robert, the owner, have elephant memory, he remembered his loyal customers. He is always caring for whatever... More

If you want to go to a real local restaurant, this is the place. Minimalist but warrm, low cost and in the middle of the archifamous La Placita de Santurce.

Traditional PR food. Try Mofongo and if you are a daring foodie like me try Gandinga. Cool place to stop while on the mercado

This place had great food. We had the scrambled eggs with the coco pancakes and they were amazing. It's definitely fresh and filling. Although the sizes are not shareable for eggs they are simply great. We also tried the guava and tamarind mimosas. Which were good as well. Overall while in PR this is the one place to definitely try... More

Good food to discover the culinary roots of the Puerto Ricans. Heritage flavors from aboriginal, African and Spaniard.

First time visiting this place. Once you entered it's feel like you are on a traditional 50's place. Great food and friendly staff. The food taste great. Definitely will go again.

We bumped into this restaurant by accident, but it turned out to be great. We ordered some fried chicken and the mofongo with chicken, delicious! It's a cute restaurant where you will find a lot of locals. The prices are good and the food is delicious. Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for some food and a... More

Near the Placita del Mercado Santurce, this is a traditional little bar/restaurant with a limited menu of Puerto Rican dishes in the $9-10 range. Rice, beans, plantains, or mofongo accompanied by some sort of meat is what you get. I had the fried chicken which was delicious (no skin, cut up chicken piece with some bone - if you've had... Great food, awesome atmosphere. Always check the board for the daily special. If you want that special you had better get there early. We got the last two and it was worth it. I had the chicken stuffed with avocado and a side of rice and red beans... Delicious.... We were in and out in 45 minutes. Fun place to... More
