Walked in and they told us we could sit anywhere at the bar. We did and an attendant got us some menus. Spanish and English so easy to figure out what we wanted. Made to order so took a little while but was hot and fresh. I got the PuertoRican onion steak and my wife ordered rice and beans. It... More

Our hotel didn't serve breakfast until 8.30 a.m. , so we asked where we could eat earlier . This was the place they suggested , and were we ever glad ! A local place ... not too big ... lots of folks going to work and having breakfast here ...

Nothing fancy-just authentic, delicious, local cuisine. Time your visit so that it doesn't conflict with those who are there on their lunch break. This is a must try.

Wanted local flavors and this place hit the spot. Prepare to wait, it is cafe style with a small amount of table and chairs, more room at the food counter. Beans were so yummy, shrimp was fresh and tasty, yellow rice was really good. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Came home and tried to recreate the bean flavors. A good example... More

Located in the heart of old San Juan, this cafe offers great variety of Puerto Rican food. It's served in a bistro style, and the staff somehow knows tourists well. They can make very good recommendations according to your dietary needs. Great for vegetarians, Seafood or Halal options as well. They served us Shrimp Mofongo with a homemade local hot... More

Manolín is as close as you will get to a Puertorrican "Fonda", a local food restaurant known for large quantities and low prices. Café Manolín is usually packed with a large waiting line, but service is quick and you should not have to wait too much in line. You can be served at the counter or at a table and... More

I have never had Puerto Rican food before and didn't know what to expect. The service was good, the food was hot, and the prices were much more reasonable than tourist trap restaurants in the area. I especially loved the rice, beans, and plantains!

As we like to say, "good, pretty, and cheap..." You can never go wrong here. Authentic Puerto Rican food, at good prices.
