Had a very nice meal of local cuisine. The place is simple and unpretentious, and seems to be an authentic local joint. I recommend a visit if that sounds like your thing.

While visiting Old San Juan, hubby and I were looking for a local spot that made Lechon rather than having to travel to the mountain region for it and I wanted Mofongo. A local suggested we try El Jibarito. The next day we went to...More
We came for a late lunch around 2p on a Saturday. The place was packed and looked extremely busy but wait time wasn't so bad (~20mins). Most of our food was pretty good and flavorful although pricey considering the portions were pretty small. We ordered...More
When you walk in the door and locals on the way out make sure to tell you that you picked the best place in San Juan to eat - you are in the right place. We had the empanadillos - and promptly ordered another another...More

Don't bother. Pricey, touristy, long wait. Try another place. Reviews kept sending us here but we were unimpressed. Food was average. Seating felt like you were stuffed in like sardines, every table was full and meal was rushed.

Our friend recommended El Jibarito so after spending a day at El Morro we walked to this restaurant. It was a few miles away and we entered through a cute doorway and casual restaurant. Tables were in the center of the room with a bar...More
This is the type of place that dishes out fantastic local food, they have a reputation for it and they know it. Point being, don't expect the staff to give you the feeling that you are welcome here or that they should be thankful for...More
