Had a great lunch experience while seating outside. Ponce is typically a hot city, but the shaded patio on a breezy February afternoon provided a great alternative to the usual air conditioned dining room ( which is also available). I had dorado fillet (mahi-mahi) with creole sauce and tostones. Excellent. My wife had codfish fillet with ajilimójili sauce, which she found lacking in flavor. I suggest the creole sauce as a better alternative.

My husband and I had a weekday lunch here that was fabulous. We sat in the lovely outdoor patio that was cool even in the heat of the afternoon. Our servers were attentive and helpful. We shared the salad as an appetizer, then I had the red snapper filet and my husband had the chicken with Parmesan cream sauce. Both were delicious. We highly recommend!

We are a military family originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico, suddenly & unexpectedly we had the opportunity to celebrate our 25th anniversary in Ponce. My sister suggested having it in Nispero in Ponce. I called & was transferred to Millie; to say that she bent over backwards to accommodate us is a severe understatement! She arranged opening on a Tuesday when they are closed so we could celebrate on our actual anniversary date. We were about 35 & they arranged everything to meet Covid-19 regulations in PR. The place didn't need any decorating, their out door space is gorgeous. They setup a cake w/Happy Anniversary balloon, & then six people per table in a way that we could all still feel like we were together. Most of us chose the "churrasco" as their main course, and everyone had a different term they wanted it cooked, I gave the staff little place cards with names, what they were eating and the term desired if applicable, not one person got anything other than what they ordered, exactly as they ordered it. The consensus from all who had the "churrasco" is that it was the BEST one they had ever eaten, tender and flavorful. The staff was so attentive and kind, the chef came out and helped us with taking group pictures. I just can't fully convey the gratitude my spouse and I feel for all of the staff at Nispero. Our anniversary celebration was an utter success and it would not have been possible with out the help of Millie and the staff of Nispero Asador, Vinos & Cocteleria!!!

Completely false advertising. Do not eat here if you are not from their neighborhood. We ordered the “slow cooked pork ribs”. What we got were ribs which were frozen and poured over with bbq sauce. Our complaint to the waiter got us a nasty stare from the manager and a paltry 20% discount on that item. Nothing else. Complete false advertising.

The place is beautiful plenty of space good ambiance. The place have interior and exterior seating. The food was good but average. The plates we picked don’t from the presentation and taste is average don’t have a special touch to stand out from other places. Little disappointed.

I visit Ponce regularly and wanted to take my parents here to celebrate their anniversary. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious (I rarely ask for medium cooked steaks but I risked it and it was perfect), fresh, and plentiful. The menu had a combination of the traditional fare and unique choices (I was tempted to order the Paletilla de cordero—big enough for two) but my parents wanted their sea creatures. The service was prompt and courteous. Our server was fantastic and she made my parents feel super welcome and special even though the restaurant got super busy very suddenly with a large group. I live in Chicago with plenty of amazing restaurants I have enjoyed but, Níspero has nothing to envy them. We sat in the outside patio under the tree and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Well, it ended with a sangria that made me very happy for hours. No worries. I didn’t drive.

We went there end of December on a family trip. The location outside is very nice in the evening and we enjoyed the atmosphere very much. They even had a live band playing!
But unfortunately the food was very poor also compared to the price. Calling itself an “Asador” (grill restaurant) the fish and meat could have been grilled better: the fish was dry and grilled too long, the filled chicken breast with amarillos was still white outside (no roasting) and also dry. The mamposteao rice was nearly offensive to what we have been experienced in other places as Puerto Rican classic :( (just rice and beans, no herbs etc.)
At least the dishes came with frozen carrots, cauliflower etc. For the price we would have expected fresh vegetables. The service was ok but nothing special.
If the food would improve in the future the place will be worth to visit.

A rewarding experience in every way. The staff, the quality and portion of the dishes were top notch. The atmosphere of your terrace invites you to stay for long hours and the music with a nice volume to talk while enjoying the evening. To Javier Bustillo and all his employees successes and be many more years to taste Nispero again every time you have the opportunity to visit La Perla del Sur.

Amazing food
My mom had the majado de viandas with vegetables and I ordered he chicken filled with amarillos with a side of pasta. Food was hot and delicious. Music 80s style, great service with dish recommendations. Also, big selections in appetizers, food and desserts. We had the home made sorullos, sweet and savory.
Desert crème brûlée of guayaba, oh my, It was outstanding and quite yummy.
It’s one of our favorite spots to be with family. We sat outside, nice and cool under the tree. Definitely we will return.

Went with my program director, and a friend mentioned that despite the paella not being in the menu you can order it ahead of time, to give them time to buy the seafood you want. It happens their new chef is from Spain. It has been the best paella I have ever eaten. He used the lobster heads m, and all shellfish to make a broth. It was perfect, the right sauce, the use of lobster, prawns and Chilean seabass. The right amount of salt. He came to our table, along with the owner, and explained about the creative process, andxserved the paella It was served with fresh tostones, and great Calofornia Batch 38 wine. Great squash and basil flan, as X well as cheescake with Tres Keches on top. Service in this restaurant is amazing.

Sorry but this restaurant had us waiting over an hour to take our order. The waitress kept ignoring us when we asked her to take our order. We made reservations two days before... If you don't want to throw away your money on over expensive wine and a terrible service, don't come to this restaurant.

A wonderful dining experience! The food and drinks were delicious! The atmosphere is family friendly and authentic Puerto Rico. The owner was on site during our visit and presented himself to see that our experience was as close to perfect as possible. An absolute must, when in Ponce.

My wife and I stayed in Ponce for one week. We usually like to sample as many restaurants as we can. We stumbled on Nispero on our second night. It was so good that we decided to go back for a second time a couple of days later.
We tried several entrees, all excellent, including the Churrasco (skirt steak), the ribs and the red snapper filet. Also had some appetizers (the pulpo gallego was amazing) and desserts. All was really top notch. Sitting outside on their back patio was really pleasant, and the service was excellent.

In a restored 1890’s mansión, El Níspero is Located in the heart of Ponce town. The restaurant is named after a fruit tree of yesteryear which stands tall in the patio, The chef is a gem. I had deliciously cooked in a caper sauce Mahi Mahi (Dorado) w vegetables & perfect tostones (fresh). For dessert, try the creamy rich crème brûlée. Service friendly, prompt. Don’t miss this one!

We had a great lunch at Nispero with family and friends while visiting Ponce. The restaurant is in a beautifully restored old house in the historic downtown area in Ponce. It has ample off-street parking under watch in an adjacent lot. We had lunch in their fantastic deck under the trees behind the house proper. The weather was perfect. The mixed drinks were excellent, the wine selection was good, and the food was fantastic, appetizers, main courses and desserts. We all had something different, and it was all good, even the espresso at the end. The service was also good and the prices were reasonable. What else is there to say?
