Do not expect a fancy entrance, but brace yourself for the amazing passionfruit sangria, plantain soup, appetizers with mojo sauce on the side and the ahh-mazing caribbean lobster flavor bursting in your mouth. Every time I go to PR my treat is to enjoy a whole grilled lobster, but due to the recent earthquakes fesh seafood is harder to find, so for now, lobster is served in portions. After many calls, Lydias Rest was the only one serving lobster. Well, we gave them a try. And let me tell you, we were very impressed with the rich favor of their classic puerto rican food and seafood. We enjoyed each piece of fresh octopus, coch, and lobster. This is the first time i have lobster lydias style- warm butter sauce, thin cubanelle pepper slices, very fine slices of onion and a hint of fresh cut tomatoes (no noticible garlic, thank goodness) It was delucious. This is not a luxurious restaurant but the the tender-flavorful seafood is suprisingly good. oh! and the "arroz mamposteao" and "tostones de pana" are to die for.

Don’t be fooled by outside and inside appearance, yes it is in need of a total makeover but food is great, prices are normal, beverages are good and staff is super friendly and go out of there way to make your experience a good one. We had the skirt steak, mofongo, fresh fish, among other things. We requested a brownie to sing happy birthday to my mom and they didn’t charge for it , that was super cool!!

I researched a few places before coming to town and my client confirmed Lydia's was a good choice. We stopped in around 6, were the only ones to dine. And yes, they asked for a copy of our vaccination card. I had pulpo mofongo (octopus) with garlic and oil sauce. Very happy. My wife had baby filet with mushrooms and onion, cooked to medium plus, but it was still good. I also had the plantain soup, very garlicky but excellent. Nice little place, staff very friendly even as we struggled with the spanish menu.

The empty living room except for a table. We ordered an appetizer and 35 minutes later it had not been brought to the table. Two tables that arrived after us were served in full and no waiters came to our table at this time, we canceled the appetizer, never took the order.

On May 27th my daughter and I choose this place for lunch after seen a post on facebook. Is was obvious that the person that posted have no idea about service or the gastronomic industry. First we did not feel welcome , The waitress or server have no basic server skills at all. She did not clean our table and was clearly dirty full of debris. She don't even introduce herself, looked like she was in a hurry and was not polite, don't paying attention to our questions. We asked for 5 items on the menu and she very rude said we don't have it and did not offered an alternative.
after that we decided to leave It was obvious they do not care about service or customers .

Had shrimp mofungo and lobster mofungo. Both the lobster and shrimp were a few days old, not bad but not fresh. The mofungo was wet instead of dry. Service .. took over an hour to get our food.
When we entered there was no food restaurant smell, in fact it’s devoid of any smells. Weird.
My review is based on the quality of the food and service however I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the menu is only available via QR code.
I’m confused how the reviews for this restaurant are so good.

We were there for lunch on our way back to San Juan. We had the empanadillas appetizer, and a shrimp and a mixto cocktel. All excellent. Wine and margaritas were high quality and inexpensive. Absolutely recommended, a real full dinner would probably be outstanding.

We were looking for a restaurant in Ponce, and good reviews led us to Lydia’s. Located in small neighborhood shopping center, but has nice ambience, excellent service, and delicious food. My wife tried the Mariscada with Lydia’s sauce (butter, onions, green peppers and tomatoes). The sauce was so good that I finished my wife’s leftovers. I ordered filete de Dorado with criollo sauce (tasty, but not tomatoey red sauce with “pimientos morrones”). Delicious! Definitely recommend this place!

I just finished having the best “filete en salsa de zetas y arroz mamposteao’” of my life. I’ve been going to Lydia’s since i was a kid and i always wondered why the place was visited by celebrities, politicians and musicians. Now i know why. The food is amazing. I highly recommend this place.

Have been coming here for years and I must say the menu is as old as the place. No change Having said that I never ever had a bad meal. Fish and meat dishes are fresh wine is reasonable parking is good. If your local this is where you go. Just go and be prepared for a good no frills meal cooked to perfection

Love this cozy place with personal attentions from owner and staff. Parking available, clean and fast service whe stop by and had a plater of mixed local fritters (pieces of boneless chicken with a light crust, corn rolls, fried pork chunks, mini alcapurias, small meat patties and fried white cheese on a guava sauce and more! It was out of this world. 💘 is a family oriented place recomend it close to mayor roads.

I am puertorrican and have been visiting the island pretty much every year since I moved to US over 20 years ago. In the last 5-10 years I would say I have not been to excited with selection of PR food restaurants. Too salty over spiced, too many good things together overpowering each other out. This rare gem of a restaurant got it just right! Simple, well done and delicious! All dishes we got. Highly recommend anything “a la Lydia”. although I happen to think that sauce goes best with seafood, very good! Place is unassuming on the outside, located in a area that seems completely residential, but nice, air conditioned yet not too expensive inside. Maybe I have been visiting the wrong typical restaurants around metropolitan and northeast areas of island when the Pearl of the sea, as Ponce is known has the better choices...
