The Pink Plantation House
Review
About
Travellers' Choice
2024
The Pink Plantation House is one of Saint Lucia's best-loved eateries. It is well known not only for its delicious, Creole / French fusion cuisine but also for owner Michelle's paintings and handmade painted pottery that adorn the tables and the art studio. More recently, Michelle renovated three bedrooms so people could stay over after dinner or as a central base to explore the island. These rooms are "hand-crafted' and most certainly eccentric. An experience you will not forget. Sitting atop the hillside known as the 'Morne', The "Pink House" overlooks Castries harbor, the Caribbean Sea, and in the distance the island of Mustique.

We celebrated our daughter's birthday here and the food was so wonderful, I couldn't stop eating those bakes and we had to order more. The setting high above the grounds overlooking the ocean and tropical gardens was fabulous and just added to the rain forest ambiance! The pottery was so colorful. I bought two small trays as 'cat sitter' gifts and managed to get them home without a problem. I cannot wait to enjoy a second visit next time we venture to St. Lucia. Thank you and all the staff for making our celebration so memorable.

Wonderful food and drinks. We had lunch and really enjoyed it. For appetizers, we had the pumpkin soup and akkra (fish). They were tasty. Both of us had the fish of the day (Doral/Mahi Mahi), one with Creole Sauce and the other with Wine/Butter sauce. Each came with rice and a small salad (yummy vinaigrette dressing). We were also served beans, cauliflower/sweet potato/cheese mash, plantains, and carrots/greens. Everything was delicious. We would eat here again. Service was exceptional. The owner-made pottery was pretty, and you can purchase pieces.

We booked lunch here after a quick tour of Castries in the morning and having been disappointed by the town, this place more than made up for it. We didn't take the most direct route to get here but rather tried to stay on larger roads as much as possible. There is ample parking st the property, and when you get there, you just ring the bell to alert staff. We were shown to a table with beautiful views over Castries. As this was the main entertainment of the day, we had starters, main, dessert and coffees. Staff were really good and not at all rushed. I had Accra for starters followed by grilled chicken breast. My husband had a pumpkin soup followed by rack of lamb. The portion sizes were enormous, particularly given that there were sides as well. For pudding we just had ice cream. In total, including a tip, our bill came to $135. I would definitely come back if we are ever in the area again. We were so full that we saved on dinner by skipping it:)

It's not only the food and the stunning view to Castries bay this place offers but also the architecture, art deco and lush gardens that you can visit while waiting to be served. The service is 5 star, everyone is so relaxed but so polite and attentive at the same time. The food is delicious, and good size quantities. The place also sells some authentic handmade ceramics, a perfect gift to take back home. Price wise it wasn't bad (if you think the whole island is quite expensive), just bear in mind the prices in the menu do not include 10%VAT and 10% tip, which is pretty much the case in nearly every restaurant on the island.
On the downside, it's a little tricky to find if you drive, Google maps will take you through crazy shortcuts sometimes quite steep and rough, but rest assured the location Google maps has is accurate and you will eventually get there. Also, better book ahead and get there for lunch or early dinner to enjoy the views and the garden.

The ambiguously named 10% service charge was the only thing that marred my visit. This 'service charge' merely inflates this bill for the owner and is never passed on to the staff who were fabulous. If the owner wants to charge more for food and drink, they should just do that and not dress the 10% extra as something it is not!
Despite the sad addition to the bill we found that the food is lovely, pumpkin soup and crab back were delicious as was my shrimp in coconut curry that followed. Fruit punch cocktails was moorish. The good sized portions will not disappoint.
The setting is beautiful and the house itself, full of old world charm, clean and spacious. The staff immaculate, polite and couldn't have been more helpful.

Friends who visit St Lucia recommended the Pink Plantation House and booked a lunch reservation for the 4 of us. We explored the gardens and house before sitting down to a fantastic meal. We chose the shrimps with tamarind, accra with creole sauce and all of us chose the saltfish salad. The service was excellent and the rum punch was really lovely.

We had read about the Pink Plantation so had big expectations. I’m pleased to say that our visit for luncheon exceeded these!
What a beautiful old French Colonial building, made bright and welcoming by the fresh and vibrant colours of Michelle Elliot’s pottery and art. We instantly felt at home and comfortable in the exotic warmth of the decor and design. Our table for lunch was perfectly placed overlooking the verdant garden and Castries harbour below. Our waiter Dylan was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious (highly recommend the smoked herring and breadfruit salad starter and the seasonal local fruit cake for dessert) and we ate very well. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and left feeling relaxed and happy!

We were treated to a meal here by our generous hosts (the Sandals Loyalty Team).
The food was very representative of the islands and delightful in both presentation and flavour.
We dined in a wonderful tropical environment with gentle breezes keeping us comfortable in the midday hours.
Access is probably best arranged by locals as the roads are tortuous.

It is with real regret that I am writing this; we loved The Pink Plantation and would regularly return here on our vacations to St Lucia, but this time round, the service from the owner Michelle was very disappointing.
I could not fault the food and service from staff (they and the food were great), but on finishing our lunch and taking a look in the ceramic shop, we spoke with Michelle about a bespoke order and asked on multiple occasions whether this would be possible, so it wasn’t forgotten about before leaving and heading home from our vacation. She agreed and promised this would be ready for us before the time we were due to return to the UK.
We never received this and was told this would be posted to us. On chasing on multiple occasions, we have now been ignored by Michelle and are now seeking a refund for product which was not produced on promise of the sale.
It’s a beautiful place but be warned, do not pursue with a bespoke order.

A little bit tricky to find as there are no road name signs and only one sign by the entrance which you can’t see if you are coming down the hill. If you use what3words, unseal.reconsider.voids will get you to the entrance. Fascinating old building which apart from electric lights etc. is probably as it looked a hundred years ago. We hadn’t booked but they managed to fit us in for lunch. Lovely setting, great service and amazing food, we both agreed it was well up there in our top 10 of best restaurant experiences ever. Cost was very reasonable compared to some of the other restaurants we ate at in St. Lucia, 3 courses & a cocktail came to around £54 per head all in, which for that quality of food and setting was very good value. Definitely worth a visit if you are near Castries.

The Pink Plantation seems to be an out of the way restaurant for those in the know. There website is a half-finished enigmatic thing with little in the way of contact details, and reservation forms that don't work. Just call them on +1 758 452 5422.
Driving up there, it also seems a bit out of the way, in a hilly residential part of Castries. You don't really see it until you're driving in the leafy parking area. Ring the bell at the rather imposing but rickety gate, and someone will come and look after you.
The building is indeed an old plantation house, and has not been modernised except for the bar and some colourful paintwork. All the tables are on the broad veranda, with great views and nice breezes. The gardens are lovely and someone will happily show you around and show off some of the local spices growing in the garden. The staff are the kindest and best we encountered anywhere on the island, and it's clearly a place where local expats and travelers in the know congregate. It was quite busy all week (we went once on a weekend, once on a weekday), so I would reserve. It's only open for lunches, and for dinner, the same person owns the Coalpot restaurant in Castries (subject of another review, but there are strong similarities, with the Coalpot being slightly more refined).
The food is typically Caribbean, with creole fish, chicken or lamb being the order of the day, and each main dish comes with a collection of side dishes put centrally on the table for everyone to share. The food was homely, but excellent. My partner also thought it was the best rum punch on the island. We went to all the major resort restaurants on the island, including some with so called Michelin starred chefs, but, with the possible exception of the Coalpot, this was the best food we had on St Lucia.
The owner also makes pottery with bright vivid tropical scenes, and these are available to purchase at the restaurant, and they also make up the restaurants service ware.
For our next visit to St Lucia, we want to stay in one of their guest rooms, and eat ourselves silly at the Pink Plantation for lunch, and the Coalpot for dinner.

It has become a ritual for us and friends to luncheon at the Plantation over the years we have been holidaying in St. Lucia. Blessed with a breathtakingly hillside vista, this open veranda dining has always been something we looked forward to. Unfortunately, this year, our smiles turned to frowns of disappointment. While welcomed by a smiling young man at the gate, the restaurant staff didn’t bother to offer a greeting when seating us and continued to serve with grim expressions. The food was a mixture of satisfactory for some while not for others at our table. Food was sent back and came back cool and still not up to snuff. Our disappointment has led us to conclude that perhaps it’s time to look for another special place and give this one a pause!

We arrived here for Lunch and were quickly seated. Service was attentive. We ordered an appetizer, then our main course. Both were visually appealing and tasty. Not having seen our server for a while I finally went in search of her to get our bill. After asking several employees for our bill I finally went to the one person in the gift shop who seemed in charge. After standing there for a while she finally presented the bill. Lunch started so well, the setting so nice, but the MIA service was so unfortunate.

Unique island experience
Fabulous fish of the day with garlic sauce (other sauce options).
Great efficient and knowledgeable service
Disappointed they close on Sundays as brunch would be great there!
Only open breakfast and lunch
Small parking can be challenging
We return every time we are in St Lucia if the restaurant is open. Highly recommend this authentic plantation experience.

Everything about this restaurant is great - the food, the service and the location. Only open for lunch. We had grilled fish of the day, lamb chops, pumpkin soup and salt fish fritters. Everything was delicious including the side dishes that come with the meals. They also use beautiful hand made charger plates made by the owner. You can buy some of her pottery but there is no pressure to do so.
