A great place for a family reunion. We booked ahead for eight and were given a good table. Only one other party there. A very friendly welcome and generous food portions. A good selection of wines too, as well as John Smiths beer. A good village...shop too selling the essentials...bread etc. I wish the pub was nearer to where we live.More

Staying in a local cottage we decided to visit Sunday lunchtime. Two adults and two dogs so we had anticipated eating outside BUT there were no umbrellas or shade outside so as I’m a typical English Rose 😂. I felt uncomfortable sitting outside! However, the...pub was heaving with most tables already booked in all areas! I give the person who came to my rescue 10/10. She was so helpful and offered us a small table in the bar area. (In the event another table that had some shade had become available so we jumped at that! Food was perfect. We both really enjoyed it and good prices too. My advice would be to book ahead if you can. We witnessed lots of people having to leave again as it is certainty very popular (with good reason). Thank you to whoever served us at Yr Eagles. Great afternoonMore

Lovely little pub wanted somewhere for Sunday lunch so booked here. Staff were lovely, food was great and the sticky toffee pudding was amazing with fresh toffee sauce. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again soon 🥰

What a pleasant surprise. We had taken the Bala steam train and wanted a wander and something to eat for lunch. This pub is community owned. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The menu was good and the Scampi and chips were probably the...best I’d had. The pie on the other table also looked and smelt good. Well done to the community for buying this establishment. I hope that you get the support you deserve.More

We turned up ‘on spec’ having been on the train from Bala lake. The greeting from the team was so friendly and welcoming. We all had a couple of drinks and a basket meal which was excellent and great value for money.

Enjoyed a fantastic Sunday lunch, the portions were huge and perfectly cooked, probably the best for taste and value we have had. Very friendly staff in an oldy- worldly pub with plenty of character. Lovely to sit outside and watch the lambs against rolling countryside....Quaint little shop inside the pub too. Would recommend to all and hope to return soonMore

Great pub in Llanuwchlen which we stopped at after climbing Yr Wyddfa for some food. Reasonable prices with good pub grub. Pub has a good community feel and was busy when we attended but plenty of room to dine separately away from the bar area...with friendly staff too. Thank youMore

My wife and I booked a table on a Thursday evening. It was quiet when we arrived and we were greeted by cheerful staff. I ordered the French Onion soup followed by the pork belly on mash. The soup isn’t something you often see on...a menu and was balanced by meaty onion moreish goodness. The last two spoonfuls brought sadness; I wanted the bowl to be bottomless. The pork belly arrived with lightly steamed veg and was slow cooked with a crunchy toffee-like crust and set on a bed of mash into which a lot of herby flavour and butter had been smuggled. My wife had the garlic mushrooms which were a step up from the normal breaded offering. Incredibly garlicky, fresh mushrooms cooked through with a tarragon cream sauce, on a slice of crusty sourdough. Her smash cheeseburger in a pretzel roll had great texture and was “just the right side of dutty” Delicious hand-made coleslaw went some way to restoring respectability. We were the first to arrive, and by the time we rested our forks the pub which was thronging with other diners, the darts team, young locals and scrubbed up farmers chatting warm beery nonsense. Great cookery and cheerful company. The Eagle has Landed…and after that meal he’s not taking off again for a while.More

We'd driven 3 hours and wanted a meal ad didn't find anything appealing in Bala so I drove down the other side of the lake to see if anything would turn up. As it happened, Yr Eagles did and What a Find! We arrived just...before opening at 17:00 but were invited in and showed to a table. We had drinks and then ordered food and I had an outstanding gammon steak meal and my Wife had lasagne which she said was very good. Other customers were soon arriving and it's obviously popular. Evverything about it was excellent so I'd be happy to return deliberately in the future!More

Lovely quiet and very friendly pub serving delicious good quality food. Although they do not accept dogs inside they do have wooden pods outside where we had great food and drinks.

We visited as a very large group but the service was fantastic! The lady behind the bar was great and encouraged us to practise our Welsh. The food was really tasty with generous portions and the bread and butter pudding was amazing. Great service, great...food, great staff and lots of Cymraeg spoken - what’s not to love!!! We dined here twice throughout our stay. The food is absolutely delicious. They know how to cook using locally sourced produce, the chicken fillet in wine and mushroom sauce and the steak and ale pie were second to none! We can't recommend highly enough but...the lovely Welsh hostess (I wish we had gotten her name) really made both of our visits. She is an absolute credit. Thank you again for making our holiday.More
