Our family had about 2 hours to kill on our last day in between our villa check out time and airport check in time, so we headed to The Palapa Grill at Grande Isle. They stopped serving breakfast at 11am and and we pulled in about 10:45, but we were craving breakfast and they luckily agreed to keep the kitchen open for us. We had called a few other restaurants and most stopped serving breakfast at 10am). We were so glad we went there - we were the only people eating at that time, and the views from the dining area are spectacular. Our server was very polite and kind. The breakfast (eggs, bacon, omlets, French toast and pancakes) was delicious and it was a wonderful way to end a great trip to the Exumas. It is about 15 minutes to the airport which worked out well.

Dinner at Palapa last night was ok but not as good as previous years. I was looking forward to the lamb burger but it was SO peppery that I could not eat it. I took it home to have the next day but again it was too peppery to eat. Very disappointing.

Staying at Grand Isle, we are numerous meals here. Did not try breakfast as we made coffee in room and bought some light breakfast for in suite. There’s nothing we ordered that we didn’t like. Lunches included Cobb salad, grouper sandwich, burger, panini - all good. Dinners included grouper, snapper, shrimp and grits, conch fritters, guava duff, key lime pie - all good as well. The view is poolside at Grand Isle.

We came here for my husbands birthday and Father’s Day. We ordered off the Father’s Day menu. The seafood risotto was so not good. Hardly any seafood in it at all. The lobster that was in it was so chewy. Yuck. We had like 3 shrimps and two little bites of fish in the risotto. It was all lost in the risotto which was a big mush mess! Had the desert of a brownie with ice cream. Sounds good? Noooooo flavor in it at all! Do they not put sugar in it? Yuck! We both had a few bites of dinner which we both hated, and then the brownie was not even edible. We left hungry!! Don’t go here. Total waste of time and $$!!!

However lucky you were to have a nice meal here….it would be luck to me. First, note all the staff is wonderful, accommodating and friendly. They try hard to make this work, but the kitchen and lack of service make it intolerable. Besides the 45 minute wait if you’re lucky, you’ll sit another 45 waiting for food to arrive and hope that it will be prepared right so you don’t have to send it back. Or get up early , or eat your dinner early or late. Breakfast especially waiting for refills of coffee or anything. Too small a kitchen to serve the people. And in peak season I’d limit use of these restaurants for resort occupants. Being only one place essentially to have casual food, I’d rethink staying here at all. Or until they create a new dining experience,. Also I read "reasonable price" for a review. We’re a traveled group, there is nothing reasonable here. It’s an expensive trip, which you wouldn’t care, if the food and experience was worth it

One of the best scenic views ever, unveiling a myriad of blue waters caressing a spectacular stretch of sugar-white beach. The menu offers a nice selection of International and American entrees including fresh seafoods. Grilled lobster is outstanding. The chocolate cake For desert is a must. A little pricey but worth every cent. Go early, bring your camera, take a walk to the beach.

It was on new year's eve that we appeared in the restaurant with no reservation. They told us that they were fully booked, but we could eat at the bar. We took a few minutes to think about it. We ordered something to drink at the bar and were told that they found a way to fit us in. So we got a nice table for two and had dinner. All the staff was very friendly and the food was very good. Thank you for the nice evening!

We ate at Palapa Grill twice. Once for lunch and then for breakfast the date of our departure. Food was outstanding each time and Melissa, our wait-person, wonderful! The open-air, poolside dining with the Caribbean as a backdrop is tough tough to beat! We’ll be back!

We had 3 hours until our flight left and decided to go to Palapa Grill. ZERO REGRETS. Carlos was our server and was top notch and so accommodating! Food was yummy- we had conch fritters, crack conch and 3 other appetizers. Only one we left untouched was their hummus. Beautiful view.

Well, perhaps management or new management has corrected many of the negative comments posted in prior reviews. We arrived late around 9:00 PM due to flight delay, and I was a bit grouchy. After a pain killer (beverage) I felt much better! The restaurant was very full still at this hour. All the while our servers Houston and Anndeka were the friendliest and kindest people you will ever find. We ate at Palapa for 1 dinner, 1 lunch and 1 brunch . All the food was very good, portions were generous. Let me remember some of the items we enjoyed. Our 14-Year-old son who lives off of chicken tenders loved the blueberry pancakes! My wife had a small Caesar Salad with chicken and it was excellent. I had the conch chowder, and nobody skimped on the conch and other ingredients – it was very good. Each time, service was quick and attentive. I told Anndeka I was sorry for being a grouch as we arrived our first night,,,she gave me a hug! I know we will be back to Exuma, and I hope to find Anndeka smiling at me once again. I do recommend Palapa highly! 5 stars! Word to the wise – make reservations in advance when visiting anywhere in the Bahamas.

We came back twice! Lunch and drinks - friendly service although a little slow to get our food. The pizza is huge (with their signature rum reduction sauce, it is very sweet). Drinks are wonderful, the view is great. A little pricy but to be expected as it is part of the resort.

First time to Exuma. Visited Palapa at Grand Isles Resort. Kaylisa was our server and what a pleasant surprise. She had the best personality and smile. Her attention to our order was amazing. She kept a check on us for drinks and to make sure our food was correct, as ordered. Food was flavorful and healthy size portions. Kaylisa ….thanks for making this visit a great experience.

Food was well received by all in our party. Relaxed, outdoor atmosphere. Bar has TV with sports. Good service, pleasant wait-staff. Took a while to get the main courses and all were not served concurrently. Well-prepared fish dishes and OK salads. Adding grouper to the salad was a good idea! Even the steak got good reviews.

I thought the food was really good and the service was great. The staff was really nice. I ate here more than once. The waitress even brought out a citronella candle to keep the bugs away. reasonably priced considering it was a resort. The mudslide is absolutely delicious. The pizza is also really good. I also really enjoyed the burger. Give it a try. I think it’s absolutely worth the price.

Enter the security gate for Grand Isle resort. Tell gatekeeper you are going to the restaurant. We ate light after a long flight so only had wings and a salad. We'll review a full meal later. Wonderful view, pleasant service. Pricey, but so is everything here.
