As usual excellent service and great food in a restaurant with so much atmosphere it could sell it as well. Had the seafood curry, was very good but the chef could do with removing muscles from the shells and bones from the fish, save me the bother. That's not a critisim just a personal preference.

Have been to this restaurant at different times over the last 40 years, through its various managements. But sorry to say, after bringing some friends from England who are staying with me to Balloo for Dinner. It was very very bad, never to be repeated. I feel so sorry because for years it was the one place to eat in... More

My father wanted to return here after having a great meal a few years back (doesn't live locally), so after a family day out we ate here. 4 adults, one child. The food was lovely but there was a long wait between the main and 2 desserts. But boy they were worth the wait - apple, rhubarb crumble. I don't... More

Delightful experience at this lovely traditional Inn. Warm welcome and plenty of attention by staff. Food was served super fast and all courses were superb with fresh and seasonal ingredients. Portions were more than adequate contrary to some of the reviews I had previously read. Well worth a visit.

There were eight of us on a business dinner and the meal was a disappointment. Starters were not bad but the Mussels were very overcooked and the broth with them was extremely salty. The soup was nice though. Mains were okay also but the Pork Belly was dry and overdone. Steak was a touch overdone but tasted nice none the... More

Used to come to the pub many years before it was done up. Have been to the posh restaurant upstairs and to the bistro. People were pleasant and the food was OK but not as good as before. I was last here 2 years ago. No particular faults but a bit plain.

As usual the food was gorgeous Starters scrumptious. I had Rump of Lamb and Tuscan potatoes my wife had blade of beef and potato gratin. The two head waitresses as usual so attentive and friendly. Thanks guys.

Busy at the weekend booking maybe essential staff are all very pleasant and professional. The venison is very popular But I recommend the prawn risotto(2nd picture) and the smooth gingerbread ice cream
