We chose to eat here as it was a short walk from where we had moored on the river. This place is all about sitting outside next to the river, but as it was a not so warm May evening we sat in the conservatory...More

The food was delicious - obviously home cooked and not a microwaved ready meal, plus it was generous portions. Pleasantly surprised by size of portions of everything including desserts. The price of food was reasonable (drinks were expensive - only negative) and the landlord/owner was...More

A range of food available on the menu. Meals were presented nicely. Portions were ample particularly the fish and chips. Curry looked lovely and ploughmans meal was very good value - fresh bread, plenty of cheese and chutney with a good portion of salad. Food...More

We went to this restaurant on a dull and rainy day which did not help the rather dark décor. However things improved from initial impressions. I ordered the lamb madras curry and my partner had ham, egg and chips with salad. Both meals were excellent,...More

We went out for a few drinks at The Jolly Sailor & had a great time listening to live music with a lovely supper. The Peroni went down well with the Chilli & Garlic Prawn starter followed by The Jolly Sailor "Special Fish & chips"....More

Crap service, dirty glasses, rude staff just awful. Do not visit this pub if you enjoy the taste of your food.

Angelo. Are you serious about what you wrote here? I do not agree with your statement. All my staff are very hard working. We are here because of our customers. Why will we be rude? I will report this back to TripAdvisor. Many Thanks, Prasad

Very friendly and had a good curry and pint there. Lovely location. Needs a bit of help and love to bring it on but could be great if given the love and patronage it deserves. Coffee and cake for cyclists? Curry taster menu for sharing?...More

Hi Prasad. Thanks for your response. As a regular Wadworths drinker I know that it is good beer but know it is expensive if I pay £3.50 a pint. £3.95 feels as though I've been to the dentist and had teeth removed without anaesthetic. Tonight I had a nice pint of Butconbe for £2.95.

Hi Prasad Thank you for taking the trouble to answer my very simple question as too why your 5 star rating was dramatically reduced. There was no need too give a very long list of what you are hoping to do in the coming months. I have been a long term customer of the Jolly and have been there on a number of occasions since you became the current tenants. The food still remains very good however the overall standard of hygiene is very suspect. Especially the the gents. Plus the way some of your staff clean the bar glasses. You cannot blame the previous owners. You took over the Jolly knowing full well of its condition. I am sure you will improve your trading standards in the near future without the the of quoting all the various places your partner has worked. As the vast majority of them are plain and simple boil in a bag food establishments. Plus I am very surprised you never had the open fires cleaned last winter as you had them working!!

Description
The Jolly Sailor pub is located on Kelston Lock, with views of the Mendip hills just 300 yards from the cycle track connecting Bath to Bristol. Complimenting our 17th century building the pub has two open fires in the bar area and offers classical pub meals with an extensive 'Specials Board'. We offer a range of Real Ale's, international lagers, local ciders and hand picked wines. We run festivals and BBQ days in the summer months for all ages to enjoy. Our Senior Citizens menu runs weekday lunchtimes and we serve food all day, every day.
