This is a reliable place for lunch with a varied menu, well cooked food and prompt service. Well recommended.

Table booked for 2pm for a special birthday Sunday lunch, didn't leave until after 5pm due to service being so slow. 11 meals - all disappointing. Steak was absolutely shocking - full of fat and gristle. Nothing hot and some meals returned as too cold to eat. Ground pepper over kids meal! Brownies rock hard in sundaes. Positives: Cheesecake with... More

Taking advantage of the sunshine yesterday we arrived early and took the opportunity, to leave the car, with the landlady's permission, for an extended canalside walk to Thrupp and beyond, returning for a late lunch. The menu was extensive and catered for all degrees of hunger, we just needed a snack before driving back home and enjoyed the Fishcakes with... More

First visit to the canalside restaurant. The room we ate in had bare brick walls, was very light, had a vaulted beamed ceiling, and on one side had views of the canal. I chose gammon from the three choices of Sunday roast, the others being turkey and beef. My partner chose beef, and she is quite fussy, but said it... More

Me and a few friends were passing this lovely looking pub and thought we would pop in for a quick bite and we are so glad we did! I had the most amazing burger with chorizo and smokey cheese and the other meals went down a treat. be warned though, because the spicy Mexican chilli is exactly that 🌶😅 wow.... More

Visited The Jolly Boatman immediately after Christmas (Tuesday 7th December 016) walking down the Canal with our wee hairy dog we entered to a warm welcome from Jane (hope I've spelt your name correctly) and a warming fire I selected a beautifully kept pint of Abbotts with Barbara having a Rose wine, we did not eat but the food passing... We visited this pub with friends this weekend. What a find. It is a really tastefully decorated pub in an absolutely beautiful countryside location. The walk along the canal to the pub is just lovely. Quintessentially English. But the star of the show at this pub has to be the food! And that's saying something as the service is pretty... More

Had an excellent meal here tonight, in lovely surroundings. A very welcoming pub with restaurant area and lounge bar. We sat in very pleasant looking restaurant and was attended to very efficiently by our waiter. . The menu offered a variety of food, which made the selection difficult as plenty to choose from. Pate starter was lovely so was Whitebait.... More

We all enjoyed a lovely meal today, taking a short walk before hand and the dogs were very welcome. The staff were very friendly and helpful with my father's dietary requests, and the food was delicious. We will visit again.

We went here for a family Xmas meal. We booked a table a couple of weeks prior and they asked for our orders up front. The was two courses for £17.95 or three for £22.95. All of us went for the 2 course option. There were good options on the menu, your traditional Xmas turkey etc, which pretty much all... More
