Pleasant staff. Table was sticky and not wiped down properly. Boxeater steak with french fries and green beans in a red wine sauce. I guess the fries were out of a packet, the steak was OK but nothing special, red wine sauce was very good, fresh nicely cooked green beans. Desert, Sticky toffee pudding may have been microwaved, was hard... More

The Rising Sun is now a firm favourite for lunch with friends. Andy & Vicky are friendly, welcoming hosts, offering a varied menu with regularly changing specials. The food without exception has always been first class, from starters through to desserts. The cosy atmosphere with the log burner in the bar for cooler days or ample seating outside on sunnier... Menu had a good choice of starters Mains and desserts. The fish chowder was excellent with a lot of fish in it. My steak was cooked... More

Had heard a lot about this place so thought we would try! It was a lovely surprise to walk in on a windy Friday evening to see two fires burning at each end of the bar. Lovely warm and welcoming. Myself and partner loved the menu and the food was amazing and so was the homemade bread. Sat in the... More

Stopped off here en route to Padstow following a recommendation from a friend. We arrived and I must admit that the place did look a bit deserted from the outside...however we went in and what a little treasure we found!! Firstly the food was absolutely fantastic, great local produce cooked to a higher standard, I really can't rate the food... More

On our journeys we stopped at the rising sun. We arrived and thought it was closed but saw lights on in the inn. Inside we went and the open ceiling beams and roaring log fire looked so homely and warming. We sat and ordered food and drinks which arrived in good time. I had the mussels with cream which were... Description
The Rising Sun is an 18th century traditional moorland inn, offering a fine selection of local and guest real ales, wines and spirits, contemporary bar and restaurant food in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Our food is freshly prepared and cooked in our kitchen and where possible we source our ingredients with sustainability, seasonality and localism at the top of our agenda.
We are situated just off the A30 about 1 mile through the village of Altarnun in the hamlet of Treween.
We serve food both lunch and dinner 7 days a week.
We also have a great little campsite with shower facilities and electric hook-ups. Please call for availability.
