Having been out for lunch in deepest Cornwall, or coach stopped here for a few drinks on the way home. Although our arrival must have startled the barman, there was over twenty ofus, the friendly barman made us welcome and quickly served the thirsty travellers; however he did forget one person's coffee. A nice clean and tidy pub with excellent... More

I have eaten here on 3 occasions, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the meals every time. I opted for the Lasagne this time, which came piping hot and with great big home cooked chips - delicious! The views are superb and the atmosphere very relaxed and friendly, highly recommended.

I have been going to the Rifle Volunteer from time to time over more than 18 years and have seen it change, develop, improve and fall back again as chefs or owners change. I think that today will be my final visit having taken my family for lunch. When I enquired and then complained about my Friday lunch time fish... More

To give credit where it was due, there is nothing wrong with this pub. The views are nice, the decor is modern and the staff were friendly, however when arriving on Good Friday, we were firstly asked if we had booked (the pub was empty) and we had to wait around 15 mins for them to set up a table... We called in for a Friday lunch, walked in but nobody spoke or greeted us. It was very quiet with one family on the sofa and one man at the bar along with two staff. We choose a table, looked at the menu, walked up to the specials board to take a photo of it and took that back to... More

We called in early evening for a quick bite to eat. There were only 4 other people eating, so the restaurant was not busy. There was only one real ale that my partner would drink (the other was the very popular tribute - which my partner does not like). We were shown straight to a table, where we both ordered... More

We made a last minute booking for 16 people for a family event and were given a top class service with an excellent menu which is extremely good value. The 7 vegetarians amongst us appreciated the choices available eg mushroom stroganoff, wellington, walnut roast, spicy beanburger. The whole ambience of the Inn is of comfort and relaxation and we would... More

Came in for some food and a drink and wasn't disappointed. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the vegetarian options. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for solid pub grub at a good price.

This pub is warm and friendly, food is varied and reasonably priced. Staff are welcoming and eager to please. The menu is very varied and would suit most tastes. The views from the pub are beautiful, well worth a try.
