After the original owners left the place has gone down hill. Every time we ate there we both felt sick. The beer on tap is warm, the food is not good. The bathrooms not clean. Service is bad.

The Shack has moved...just down the street to the Malecon turn left and a 1/2 a block. Now with uninterrupted ocean front view the shack just keeps getting better. Great menu and fortunately the best burgers in Baja ( really ) the menu is great but they only make burgers. Beer on tap and a new owner, Ketza is the... More

Atmosphere is pretty good if you want to meet local expats and have a beer. If you like beef burgers, then the food at The Shack is for you. The menu is limited.

First, as some reviewers have mentioned, this place is now on Alvaro Obregon. "James H" hit on some of the low points in his previous review. The place was pretty much deserted except for a few pretty drunk old men playing dominos or something at the bar. That in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the person who seemed... More

I went there just twice. The first time was when it was at Allende and at first the place wasn't very attractive; it was dark, messy, dirty, the service wasn't too good but the food owas okay so I was willing to ignore the fact that I got out there all smoked. The second time my brother and I were... More

We were just wandering the malecon on an October afternoon. A pleasant young lady said to my son and I that we might want to come back when she opened up because she made the best margaritas in town. We took her up on it and came back at mealtime. Bang!, we had a margarita in hand in no time,... More

I'm not sure a contingency of "local expats" is a plus for a bar like this. Maybe the regulars want this place as it is, and they can have it! I came in here one afternoon in August for a a Happy Hour beer. I walked in and saw a couple groups of scruffy older men drinking at the bar.... More

Google maps shows this restaurant on calle Ignacio Allende, but the place we visited was on the ocean next to espiritu Tours where Restaurat Bar Salsipuedes shows in goodle street view. (Alvaro Obregon 2130) We visited for a breakfast beer. The food was good, the environment was full of life, and the music was appreciated. I imagine at night it... More

The Shack moved to the Malecon since the last time I was in La Paz. The new location is absolutely perfect! I was able to relax and enjoy the view of the water, while having a cold one and devouring an amazing burger. I spend a bit of time in Baja, and enjoy the change of pace with a burger... More
