Worth waiting for a reservation

We reserved a week in advance to get a 6pm seating for four and it was so worth it. The service was amazing and the chef came out and explained her specials. How many chef’s take the time to do that! I had the coconut shrimp soup and stuffed blue crab, so good. The service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Amazing food. great presentation and neat atmosphere.

Do not miss this place. There food and presentation is amazing. This is top notch chef prepared food that would be double the price back in big city North America. All tables are outside and the treat you quite well. Service is slow because there are normally 2 serving all the tables. Braised Beef surf and turf was unreal. Mahi Mahi was great. Will go back the next time we are in Huatulco. A must to go. PS. You need reservations. If you walk up you will probably not get a table.

Great choice

We were fortunate enough to land a last minute reservation for shortly before we ended our vacation. My wife had one of the listed specials and I went with the mahi mahi. Both of our meals were the best we had on our holidays, the taste was excellent the presentation was great and the price was less than the meal I had the previous night at our hotel . If you’re in the area make a reservation and you will not regret it.

Won’t be going back way over rated

We had heard how great this restaurant was and you must make reservations so made reservations Thursday for a Monday 7:00 pm seating. It took several minutes for the waiter to come for our drink order, that’s okay, we are thinking this is a top restaurant service will get better, we were wrong it got worse much worse. To the point we had to go to the kitchen once to ask for another drink and then after asking for our bill 2 times had to stand in the door way too block our waiter to give us the bill only to bring it back to our table for review and he overcharged us. Then the meals, 2 out of 4 were good but the mussels were terrible and cold and the seafood chowder way too salty plus half the clams and the mussels in the soup were not opened. In a restaurant of this level that should not have been served. They filet mignon was very tasty and reasonably priced for the size of meat and the curry mahi mahi also tasty. But we will not be going back or recommending this restaurant to anyone.

WAY OVERRATED

Really? I am not sure what the fuss is all about. My seafood soup had lots of mussels but the broth was so garlicky..it overpowered the seafood and was cloying. It was supposed to come with garlic bread but they just added more of the melba toast type bread laced with garlic that they give you gratis. My husband’s steak special was not great..the steak was very tasteless and the sauce was Ok but it couldn’t cover the tasteless meat..it was not cooked with care..underdone . The hummus appie was just adequate . The service was not great..we both had to ask for drinks ourselves . The dessert menu was plunked down on the table seconds after the plates were cleared. You are seated very close to your your neighbors and we had an annoying couple next to us . You get to suck in exhaust fumes from the street. There are way better options in town. Do not waste your money.

This seem rarely but as you picture the whole experience we didnt make a good job and we apologize. We Will try to see all points you atention to do and adjustment. Thats why always is important to said something in the moment. At least 2 times service staff pass to your table to asking "everything is ok" and just thats when we could do something to change the situation as business. The short ribs are amazing here!

We enjoyed two dinners at Rocota restaurant, which was highly recommended by friends. We both had the beef short ribs which were amazingly tender and flavorful...perhaps the best I have ever had. The restaurant utilizes its outdoor space for tables and the service was very attentive. The kitchen is bustling and the restaurant always seems full. We appreciated that the chef took the time to check on how we were enjoying our meal.

We have eaten at Rocoto many times during our winters here in Huatulco. It is a must do dining experience for all who visit us and without fail, every comment is the same...outstanding! This is the restaurant you want to go to when you want to gift your senses with a five star experience in dining and service. Well done Claudia and Barbara...we LOVE your amazing sauces and exquisite presentation. While I’d like to keep this gem to myself, it really does deserve to be shared with the world!

Best dinner of the trip

Reservations were easily made in advance (2 days ahead), were seated right away. There is a board with specials on it in addition to the menu. I had the beef tenderloin special, probably the best piece of meat I have ever had. Hubby had the beef tenderloin on the menu. His was on a bed of mashed potatoes, mine had small potatoes on the side. It was a huge piece of meat. We were so full we couldn't order dessert which looked wonderful. Slices of bread with 2 sauces, one pretty spicy (but good!) brought before dinner. One of our best meals of the trip!

Rocoto Fabulous

The food here was very good. I had a huge piece of Mahi Mahi that was done perfectly. My wife also enjoyed her meal. I would definitely make a reservation and visit Rocoto. The co owner even came by and asked us how our meal was to which I responded "This is one of the Best meals I have ever had".

A must try in huatulco!!!

Our whole experience here at Rocoto was amazing. Even during a pandemic we felt completely safe. Spaced out seating, temperature check at the door and a mask is required until you’re seated. It’s a cute, quaint restaurant near the city center. Such a welcoming vibe here too. Once we were seated, The chef, Claudia, came to introduce herself and explain the expansive menu to us in perfect English. She did such an excellent job answering any questions and guiding us. After explaining what we loved she suggested the perfect dishes. The service from the staff was perfect too. Both victor and Barbara ( I hope I got names right) were very attentive. The impeccable service here in addition to the amazing food made us return the following night to eat here again. The menu has options for everyone. Healthy, vegetarian, comfort food really there’s a dish for everyone. Presentation on the dishes was excellent. For the price/quality you get here it’s perfect. My girlfriend and I dined here for a set menu on Valentine’s Day as well. The set menu items were phenomenal. Thank you so much Claudia and The staff at rocoto for the amazing dining experience.

Rocoto’s beautiful new location in La Crucectia

Each time we visit Huatulco we try to eat at Rocoto and this time we thought they had gone out of business as their former space in Chahue was vacant. We were thrilled to find their new location in La Crucecita. The food and service were superb, as always. Claudia and Barbara are gracious hosts with amazing passion to delight their guests with creative and innovative menu choices. We had the fresh Mahi Mahi special and the bacon-wrapped filet with vichyssoise sauce, both of which were delicious. We’ll be back again for poke before we have to head home.

Rocoto is Settling Into its New Digs!

We were invited to Rocoto's private grand opening on November 20th. We are long time customers to this "one of the best restaurants" in the Huatulco area. They put on a great appetizer spread with one free drink. Many new creations were sampled with lots of food noises being heard. We have a reservation for Dec 4 to which I will post.

Such a great meal. From start to finish everything was great. The owner/chef came to the table to explain the food and it’s clear her passion is to make you have an incredible experience and that we did. I opted for the fillet steak which was well cooked, seasoned and presented. Definitely one to visit

Outstanding flavours.

Undeniably, this is the best restaurant in Huatulco. There is an amazing selection - we usually eat vegan (which they had) but decided on the Maui Maui special. No regrets. The flavours left a party in our mouths. So flavourful, well presented and fairly priced. Don’t miss an opportunity to enjoy the culinary fusions presented to you. Remember to get a reservation because this is a popular restaurant for obvious reasons. We live that the chef extraordinaire presented the nightly specials to you and made recommendations.

Amazing, Amazing

My wife and I had the privilege to have a reservation to Rocoto during our visit to Huatulco this past week. First, no reservation, no entry, so all Covid concerns were immediately addressed. The staff met us at the door, took our temperature and supplied sanitizer. Again, Covid concerns addressed. The gentlemen who welcomed us was friendly and passionate about the dining experience. Our waiter, who also teaches English during the day, was friendly, fun and informative. The meal was absolutely fabulous and the portions are large so go hungry. Our white wine was perfectly chilled and the music lightly playing in the background made for a perfect, memorable evening. We told everyone at hour hotel and anyone who had been to Huatulco new of this wonderful place and we sent some new friends the next evening. Wonderful, Amazing Rocoto! Enjoy.
