If you want a restaurant with rather fierce air conditioning that is striving to be posh without adequate or relevant staff training, this is your place. The staff (waiters and chefs alike) have no idea and make no effort to cater to dietary needs of...their customers. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES, INTOLERANCES OR ANY KIND OF RESTRICTION TO YOUR DIET. My family visited the restaurant last night with my son who is severely allergic to sesame. I should clarify that my family is from Oaxaca so there was no issue with language or communication. We explained his allergy in detail to the waiter and my son ordered a pizza. One waiter assured me that the pizza would be fine for him and another waiter said that the kitchen didn’t use sesame. When the main courses started to arrive, we were surprised to see sesame added to almost every dish. The waiters did not mention this or ask us if it would be a problem. The spaghetti had a chunk of sesame covered baguette plonked on top of it, a salad had sesame dressing, some black beans had a pile of sesame seeds on top. Worst of all, when my son’s pizza came, the base was covered in sesame seeds!! The waiter didn’t even notice and clearly the management don’t train the waiters so that they know the ingredients of each dish properly. The chef had been told of the allergy but he also clearly either didn’t care or didn’t take it seriously and ignored it. My son was absolutely distraught, lost his appetite completely and I spent 30 minutes outside the toilets trying to calm him down. My dinner got cold and was not good anymore by the time I came back (soggy sopa de tortilla) and everyone else felt so bad they couldn’t enjoy their food either. This was also an important farewell family dinner and the whole experience was ruined by the attitude of the restaurant and the fact that they didn’t even try to make things right. Not only did they not offer any kind of discount on the bill considering that we left a lot of the food and that the dinner was ruined, but they didn’t even take the sesame pizza off the bill! There was no apology. Nothing. Honestly, unless you want to sit somewhere cold to eat, you can find better food at better prices with far more attentive and caring service elsewhere with just a little research.More

Seeing a complaint like this makes me cringe, because I too suffer from severe food allergies (to the point of anaphylactic shock) which causes me to only eat my meals at my restaurant because the staff has been trained to cook for me. I am...More

Ordered the stuffed French toast with coconut. It did not disappoint. Typically I don’t even like French toast. I’d get this again and again. Great waiter and a nice atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and don’t miss this restaurant.

Terra-Cotta is located in a hotel near the center square of La Crucecita. The atmosphere is intimate and inviting. Staff were courteous and helpful when discussing the menu items. We found the food to be quite delicious, however, one of our companions did not care...for the mole and chicken dish. They found it to be very rich and leaning towards a chocolate flavour. They suggested that it almost was like having dessert. However, don't let this dissuade you from trying this dish. This is just a heads up as what to expect when you order it. Everyone else at the table found their dishes to be delicious. The cost for dinner we found to be very reasonable. I don't believe that you will be disappointed if you spend an evening at the Terra Cotta restaurant.More

We ate outside on a hot evening. The ceiling fans provided a nice breeze to keep us cool. If you chose to go inside, the air conditioning is excellent! Food was terrific! And prices are very good! Beer and two dinners was roughly $45 Canadian....The service could have been better but we got the impression that our waiter was new at his job.More

Our first cisit here a year ago was because it is air conditioned. But it has become a favorite. The food is always good. And the service is stellar. We love the campestro omlette with bacon etc. and the juevos al chipoltle kind of a...mexican eggs benefict. My favorite!! The Tacos dorados are a chicken version of western tacitos only with lots of chicken and a nice big salad. The filete rockefeler is to die for. Rich creamy sauce with perfectky grilled mahi mahi. We usually love the carrot cake but wanted chocolate to start off the day so had the briwnie sundae. We usually enjoy a cappuchino w oaxacan chocolate too. They deserve good tips for excellent service and consistently good food.More

The staff was excellent, we really enjoyed the food and service. Portions are a normal size so you can do a nice 3 or 4 course meal. Location is easy to find in the town very close to main square.

Hands down the best breakfast in Huatulco. I have visited probably 5-6 times in a couple of weeks and each time is equally as impressive. I highly recommend the Norteño Omelette

We ate hear twice on our 8 day stay as our hotel was right next store. Food was great and I tried there famous Pan Frances Naranja! And it was delicious definitely. The other visit the ordered chicken enchilada suizas verde which are a favorite...of mine when visiting Mexico. Sophisticated dining without the higher prices I was pleasantly surprised! Multiple fresh squeezed juices, multiple cakes and bakery goods, and free refills on coffee! We got a slice of carrot cake to go for the room to split one night as they are large in portion!More

It is quite inexpensive to eat there. Restaurants in general are inexpensive in Huatulco, but this one has prices lower than the norm even though the food is excellent and the décor is classy. You can have a meal for two... More
