Beautiful restaurant - Food overrated

The restaurant is in a beautiful setting. However, at night you can’t appreciate the view. The restaurant was not full on December 30/22 upon arriving. We intended to make a reservation for the 31st, but we were told it was full. The menu is extensive. We were interested in a seafood dinner. We began with the tropical tacos, one shared order was enough for two people. The jicama tortilla were delicious and the breaded shrimp with pineapple pick de gallo was a tropical treat. We also order guacamole to share and this was also delicious. For the main course my partner ordered the fried shrimp with tempura pasta in sweet and source sauce. He enjoyed it very much, but remarked that the potato and roasted garlic could have been heated more. I chose the roasted garlic shrimp accompanied with salad and muhamara sauce. For some unknown reason I received cold mashed potatoes and some salad greens on top of the potatoes. The shrimp were not warm enough either. For dessert we had the strawberries and cream which tasted a lot like Rediwhip topping and very little of the coconut crumble. Drinks included a mineral water, a lemonade, one Margarita and one glass of white wine. The total bill including a 15% gratuity was a little over $1,500 MP. My impression is this was excessive for the food, although the wait staff was efficient and very polite. The manager did come around before our main courses arrived. Otherwise I would have told her about the quality of the food and hot cold it was.

We ate here four times after the fire that burned down the palapa. The hostess got us seated the first two times after the reservation was messed up. She is great! I had the balsamic steak three times. It was just too good to resist. Tender, juicy, with incredible flavor. We both had tortilla soup which is mixed right at the table so it's very hot and delicious. My wife had the steak twice and loved it even though she's not fond of steaks. a easy walk from our condo at Punta Arrocito.

Food and service for all 5 people was exceptional. Wine selection, including the house wine is much better than previous visits. The staff is working within the shell of what was once a beautiful structure which was damaged by a recent fire. They are performing admirably! We would love to see some chicken dishes and a side order option of chicken and shrimp for the salads. Keep up the great work! Can’t wait to see it next season when the roof and repairs are done!

Great Food Great Service

So we found this place online showed great reviews so we decided to give it a try Celebrating My Sister In Laws Birthday. Its a bit far from where we stayed but the Drive was worth it. Not much of a Menu selection and we had to pass a tablet around the table since they only had one menu that was on a tablet but the Food was Amazing. The portions were a bit small but the taste made up for it. Great Service Shayla was very efficient. It had one downfall. It was 6 of us 3 couples. The girls ordered drinks we ordered beers not much of a beer selection either. First round was good nice and cold ordered our second round and we were told no more beers from our first option so we had to go with choice number two. Yes a beer is a beer but they taste differently and its always best to first drink what you like or secondly stay with the same kind unless they are craft beers. So Round two came and went before our food was served but after appetizers so we ordered round 3 before our dinner and guess what? Yup they had no more of or second choice either! in fact they only had two more beers of any kind not enough for a 3rd round so they had 8 beers on a Saturday Night at 7pm dinner reservation. We felt that either they didnt want to serve us and that was a way to kick us out or that they have no management skills that tells them how much inventory to have. Yes i asked and Shayla assured us that they were not kicking us out. We were not rowdy we were dressed for dinner we were celebrating a special night and we thought it would be a nice place to have a great dinner. Well the food is Great the Shayla was amazing but the management needs to step up their game. We were informed that they were just reopening up after a fire that they had 30 days prior. So an A for effort to reopen that quick but i suggest they hire a good manager to assure that they have inventory or make sure you tell the customer that they have a 1 drink maximum.

A little disappointed in the seasoning and flavors

A little disappointed, I had been told very well about the place and I had high expectations. The clericot was syrupy, very sweet and the food was a bit bland. They didn't have all the menu options and we had to adapt to what was available. Maybe it was bad luck, but I wouldn't return as the place is far from the rest of the city.

Used to be delicious!

We used to stay at the beautiful complex Cosmo and ate many many times at Oceans. It was always outstanding so we wanted to take our adult kids there. Sadly, the water bottles and more importantly beer was warm, the pasta was flavour less, the fish burgers used to be so large you couldn’t get your mouth around it. Now it is thin and the bun in soggy. I had to search for the shrimp in my shrimp taco that was smothered in tomatoes. The staff are friendly still and view is beautiful.

Our family of 6 went to dinner at the Ocean Restaurant after not having been there for over a year. Based on past experience, we were looking forward to an enjoyable evening. Ambience, good. Service, exeptionally good. Crooner also very good. Drinks, good. Food, good for the other 5 and terrible from my perspective. The tortilla soup I had ordered was cold. The ingredients were good but the soup was cold. I did not send it back as by the time my soup arrived the others had practically finished eating their "starters". For my main dish, I had ordered seared tuna (supposedly caught fresh that morning). It was not on the menu, but after checking availability with the chef, I was told that it would be excellent. Again, my order was the last one to be served; rightly so, as I was the host. Sadly, the tuna was improperly seared and was cold, even on the outer surface. This time, I sent it back and ordered an alternative dish from the menu, which was perfectly good.

Amazing food

Danny was our server for the evening, and he was fantastic! We arrived around 615pm on a Tuesday night, it was pretty empty but around 7 it started to fill up. The place is small so I would definitely make reservations just in case. Appetizers : calamari 5/10 tuna with black sauce and sesame 10/10 We ordered 3 entrees because they all looked so good. Spaghetti shrimp 8/10 octopus 9/10 catch of the day (mahi mahi). 10/10 Everything was fantastic and we would 100% order them again. Definitely a lot of food for 2- we were stuffed. But of course we had to order dessert. Previous reviews said to try the Oreos fritos with vanilla ice cream and wow- so so good. 10/10. The churros with condensed milk and chocolate were a great hit too. 8/10 We hope to come back to try all of the other delicious items on the menu.

Hey guys! My boyfriend and I had a stressful day of travel/finding a hotel and we stumbled upon this magical little restaurant. When we pulled up live music was playing & the manager took care of us right away! Beatiful sunset, amazing cocktails, & incredible dishes! The special thing about this place was the atmosphere, amazing vibe!

My husband read the reviews so we left our yucky food from the AI and headed to ocean. The restaurant is beautiful and relaxing The drinks are great, I recommend the maracuyá, I ñobed the shrimp ceviche but my husband didn't, my husband ordered shrimp they were too salty , the service is slow so be patient. Chips and sauces are good.

Delicious food, Awesome Service

The food is superb at Ocean, we tried most of the appetizers and just a bite of their burger and pasta (only because I stole a bit from my 13 yo son); they were all delicious; my favorite was the Octopus. The environment is just awesome and the services is just amazing, very special thanks to Cinthia, Sandra, Caro and Danny who treated us like family. Eugenio (Chef/Owner) was absolutely nice and accommodating (te espero en Houston). Note: if you go to Mexico (or any other foreign country) enjoy the local culture and food !

2nd visit and still excellent

For our Valentine celebration we decided to take the evening real slow by ordering one dish at a time. Started with a tuna appetizer and then the avacado appetizer. Both were excellent in taste and presentation. We then shared the coconut shrimp. Comes with a pineapple sauce to die for. The shrimp were meaty and tender although my partner said one of his slightly overcooked. The margarita was one of the best. We sat overlooking the tables below and enjoyed the music and wonderful ambience of the restaurant. Service is excellent too.

A Magnificent Coastal Area

We were able to take a private tour boat out of Santa Cruz Bay and head up-and-down the coast. The ocean near Huatulco is so beautiful. We were able to pull into many of the beaches and snorkel. The coastline is very stunning with the mountains in the background, very clean and beautiful. We were able to see whales and dolphins and this trip was very exciting and worth taking the time to explore.

Excellent food and service. Make sure you try the garlic shrimp. My mouth is still watering. We were going to go back for another delicious meal, but unfortunately the restaurant had some problems out of their control. Will go back asap

Tropical Tacos

I was there with my daughter and husband - went twice. Loved the food especially the tropical tacos ordered multiple orders. The Manager (from Rome) absolutely pleasant and was so attentive and bonus spoke English. Her staff too was super friendly and attentive.
