I’ve been to Santa Clara Restaurant many times, brought many friends & recommenced it to many. My favourite meal is chilies rellenos con queso. I recently tried the clay chicken with some friends. Succulent, tender & absolutely delicious. I think I would have preferred it...with rice instead of refríed beans to sop up all the delicious sauce! Next time I’ll ask for it. The entire staff of Santa Clara Is welcoming with a warm smile to greet you when you arrive. They make one of the best margaritas in town. And their house mezcal is excellent! This restaurant is the best! My first stop when I return to Huatulco!More

Been there twice in the past two weeks. Both tips were excellent. I had the grilled chicken and my wife had quesadillas. Both were excellent. Pricing was very good and the service was great. On our second visit, my wife had the breaded chicken breast...and I stuck with the grilled chicken breast. Both were excellent again. Both came with retried beens and guacamole. Once again, great service. Definitely a place to check out. It is close to the Chedraui grocery store.More

We had lunch at this restaurant and found the food to be good tasting with reasonable pricing. Al a carte menu or buffet available. Our service was excellent. We saw many locals and tourists here eating. Even the local police love eating here. BOTTOM LINE:...Good homemade authentic tasting Mexican foods. MY RATING: 7/10.More

My wife and I have been to the Santa Clara Restaurant many times and they never fail to provide an excellent meal with great service at reasonable prices. The authentic Oaxacan dishes are to die for especially the Chile en Nogado. Their very own house...mole puts other restaurants moles to shame. The ambience and decor are traditional coastal Mexican and very comfortable. Try them and you'll love them.More

Why are you travelling anyway? Sure, the warm weather and the absence of work is nice but, really, you could turn up the thermostat and stay at home couldn't you? For most of us - we're travelling to see something different. This restaurant is different....Delicious, genuine, friendly and ... different. The chicken baked in clay is something we'd never had before and it was super interesting for all (8) of us to try. Give it a shot. (They close at 7 at night so don't plan on getting there too late.)More

A friend and I went in June 2016 and I am going back to Huatulco in a few months. We were there in low season and at dinner there was only one other table of people eating. The Chicken and Cheese Chili Relleno was the...best i have ever had and the Margaritas were good. The owner gave my friend and I a free CD with Huatulco music. The only draw back was the other couple I believe a Mexican Family began smoking after they had their dinner and we were having our dinner. I guess I am so used to the USA and no smoking in most places.More

We have heard and read so many good things about Santa Clara and decided to go a couple weeks ago. Mediocre food and charged more than on the menu. Service was very good. Would we go back? Not likely.

We ordered their "chicken baked in clay" special for 4 people and were not disappointed. The service was great as well. This is a family run restaurant and the pride in preparing the dishes is evident in the quality and taste of the food.

We found Santa Clara on this trip, as it came highly recommended by a friend! The menu is pretty basic, and almost exclusively local cuisine. The meals are authentic, and unique. They serve an excellent aracherra like most other restaurants, but that's where any similarity...ends. The chili rellenos (stuffed bell peppers) are amazing. Their 'clay pot chicken' takes 8 hrs to prepare, and must be ordered in advance. If you only eat out ONCE while you're in Huatulco, it should be here.More

We had the recommendation of a lovely couple from Iowa and we are so happy that they told us about Santa Clara. My husband and I both had the chili rellenos, with chicken and cheese absolutely the best ever. The couple with us had a wonderful...meal as well. Prices were so reasonable. Service despite our lack of Spanish was just fine. Would recommend to every one. We all loved it.More

This restaurant is not far from the Super Che. It's a little place that is very clean. The employees were very kind, but knew just a little English. We were there early- around 5:30 p.m. The menu had an English translation, but we still found...it difficult to understand. Everything was authentic Mexican and Oaxacan. I had a wonderful clear tomato based soup with chicken, cheese, avocado, and tortilla strips. It had just the right amount of spice and was very good. My chili relleno was stuffed with chicken and cheese. It was delicious. My husband ordered two things. There was a mix up in the first item. It ended up being cheese quesadillas which were not what he ordered, but still good. His second item was the traditional tlayuda. The presentation was beautiful. It was good, but my chili relleno was super. Our margaritas were good, too. There were so many things we wanted to try. I want to go back, and a Spanish/English dictionary would be helpful. I really recommend you try Santa Clara if you want the real thing.More

The restaurant is not in the main part of La Crucecita, nor is it on the Santa Cruz stretch so I don't think it gets a lot of foot traffic. Thanks to the TA reviews, we had very tasty Oaxacan food - chicken mole (spicy,...a bit sweet, hardly any chocolate taste) and fried garlic shrimp accompanied by pumpkin sauce tortillas. Didn't get a chance to try some of the other dishes, but would definitely give it a try if we return.More

So many tourists never get the chance to discover this wonderful family run restaurant/posada because it is slightly off the beaten path just behind Chahue Blvd. An inexpensive cab ride will get you there and you will be treated to authentic Mexican cuisine and the...finest hospitality Huatulco has to offer. My last meal there in Oct consisted of chile relleno which is a stuffed mild pepper which can be stuffed with a variety of fillings so be sure to discuss this with your server and be prepared for a fabulous meal. Everyone should take advantage of tasting this interesting tasty signature dish. There are plenty of dishes to choose from and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. I am looking forward to eating there again over the coming months.More
