The waiters didn’t know what they had on their menu, they offered us other beers because they didn’t have Corona (who doesn’t in Mexico!???), then didn’t have the other beer we chose. I ordered the fish filet. It was drenched in oil and looked like...no effort was put into the making of it. I puked it out as soon as I got home! Over priced and worst service ever. Please avoid and save your money!!!More

Where to start? Our overall impression of El Jardín de Pancho Villa was that the dining concept/theme is not clearly defined. The management and staff obviously don't know what the restaurant's concept is, and we suspect that there's an absentee owner who rarely visits to...check up on things. We had walked by the rear entrance (on Morelos) and checked out the menu...seemed OK. Later, we returned via the main entrance facing the malecón and were ambushed by a couple of the pushy shills who entice customers inside. Excessively loud music was blaring/booming from speakers, but we figured we could dine in the less-noisy section upstairs. It seemed to be an imposition for the host to show us to a table, but we found an unoccupied table for two and seated ourselves. After a long wait, wondering if anyone was going to serve us, a waiter eventually showed up, and without so much as a smile or "bienvenidos," took our drink orders and left us with a couple of well-worn menus that should have been replaced after spring break. While some off-key/"pitchy" singers were trashing songs in the karaoke at the rear of the restaurant, a drum ensemble and political rally were passing by the front entrance, drowning out the sound of the excessively loud music that was blaring from speakers. Forget about a "less-noisy" dining experience! Everything about El Jardín de Pancho Villa -- from the decor to the noise to the food (why was wilted lettuce served on top of chicken enchiladas?) -- was like a dining nightmare. The multiple TV screens were showing diverse unrelated images and sounds: music to compete with all the other music and noise on one, with a horrific/bloody/terror video on another. We kept wondering "What does Pancho Villa have to do with any of this?" Our sullen waiter came around to collect our plates and clear the table, and neither of us could even respond when he asked if everything was OK. We were both in shock, and couldn't get out of there fast enough. If you're visiting Puerto Vallarta, eat somewhere else...anywhere else.More

The grilled octopus with pesto was fantastic! We sat outside and watched the sunset over the water. The only downside to sitting outside was people coming to our table trying to sell excursions.

Fabulous coconut shrimp, view, drinks, and then the bill came as the cashier hovered over me for payment. I was solo and had ordered 1 margarita and 1 tequila shot which was charged as "Crown Royal". I protested the higher imported call drink charge. The...waiter was called over and stated that I had ordered "Crown Royal" with my margarita. I paid and left. I recommend their food and view, but pass on drinks with alcohol and double check your charges in ALL establishments, tours, etc. in this town. PAY AS YOU GO.More

THIS KINDA MONDAY... After a nice 12 mile 16 km run, it’s time for a couple beers and a steak burrito. I came to this place yesterday and the staff were so friendly I was almost forced to come back 😄 My buddy Josh asked...me if I had been upstairs yet to see the view. I had not. So we rectified the situation immediately. Two-for-one beers and a delicious carne asada burrito later, well, kinda liking Mondays now. Was quite possibly one of the best steak burritos I’ve ever had. Like a fajita on a large tortilla with cheese.More

The food is decent but it is pretty tacky to have these people hawking timeshares posing as waiters or hosts at the restaurant. This is the main reason that I won't be going back.

After doing a little shopping, we looked for a place to eat along the Malecon. Happened upon Pancho Villa because they were offering .99 beers along with the fish and chip special. We were seated upstairs (what a fantastic view of the bay as well...as the Malecon) and ordered our beers. Well the .99 beers were Coronitas...that's ok...and I ordered the fried "calamari." Well, the fried calamari was in fact 1/2 of a deep fried octopus, not what I was expecting, but delicious nonetheless. It came with basmati rice, green salad and sauteed veggies. Overall, a nice place for viewing, decent food and cheap beers.More

Nearing the end of our stay in Puerto Vallarta, we had the opportunity to meet up with our neighbours who were just staring their vacation. We decided to meet at El Jardin and were seated on the 2nd floor overlooking the "boardwalk" and bay. We...were greeted quickly by Alan who was friendly, helpful and efficient. Sharon had the Camarones al Coco with a side of fries; and I had Burrita Asada. Both meals were delicious and Sharon really enjoyed her Margarita. During the meal we were entertained by a group of young musicians (10) playing violins; trumpets; or guitars. and a lively variety of Mexican music. I fully expected to have a well earned tip solicited; but they left without asking for one after about a 15-20 minute performance. I think their teacher was exposing them to performing in public. A great move on her part and enjoyable bonus for us. Overall, this was a great experience; and my bill was only 720 pesos (US$42.25)More

Upon walking passed this place earlier in the day, my husband and I were excited to come back for dinner. When we arrived, the taller male server sat us upstairs on the balcony! It’s a really cute place and decorated adorably! However we sat for...about 15min before we ever got our drink order. After that we put in an appetizer order, we NEVER got it. We did receive our dinner order we put in the same time as the appetizer. My husband got the surf and turf. It was suppose to have shrimp, steak, cheese and chorizo. When we got the dinner it had very tiny pieces of shrimp what you’d find in shrimp fried rice maybe slightly larger. He had 3 strips of steak. Most of it was cheese covered in what tastes like canned tomatoe sauce. I ordered the steak meal which was pretty good the steak was nice and soft. However the beans had no taste and I didn’t get to eat the whole steak because I had to share it with my husband since he basically got cheese for dinner. The service was terrible. Don’t recommend.More
