We absolutely loved Carmelitas. The restaurant sits on top of a hill high above the City of Puerto Vallarta. My husband and I have seen this restaurant for over 20 years of dining in the valley of Puerto Vallarta....this year we made it up the very steep hill, thanks to our Taxi driver who dropped off and came back to... We hiked from the malecon all the way up Calle Allende and on up to the very top of the mountain at Las Carmelitas. Cabs can now easily access the entire way to the top since the road has been hard surfaced (cobblestone and concrete). The view from the top, from the restaurant is nothing less than spectacular with the... More

Visited with friends on 18 February we were six at a table and had an ok meal (pricey for what it was) However when the bill arrived it was overcharged by 600 pesos not to mention the fact that when you go to the restaurant the guard at the gate takes 400 pesos as a minimum deposit which was not... The view of Puerto Vallarta is awesome. If you look up to the east at night from downtown Puerto Vallarta you will see a circular lighted building at the top of the mountain. To get there is an experience by itself. We rent a car so we drove. You exit off the main bypass highway just before the entrance to... More

Since Vista Grill moved down to beach, I think there is only Casa Isabel and Carmelitas are the only views from up high. Oysters not in season so had to have staff get creative. Asked them to make a lobster Rockefeller. Wow!

Nice view, very, very slow service. Taxis not fond of going there. Was there on a Saturday night. Arrived 6:10 and got food at 8:30. Food was fair. Crab Enchiladas were very spicy. Coconut Shrimp was good. Forgot the fries. Cute dogs and cats, very friendly.

During the day, I asked two cab drivers how much they would charge to Las Carmelitas. One said 160 pesos and the other one 100. The taxis we actually used charged us 150 up and 175 down. Some of the food was good, but some wasn't at all. The staff was not up to standards for such an EXPENSIVE restaurant.... More

Recommended by travelers next to us on the beach, we adventured up there for dinner at sunset. Had a good cab driver fortunately as it's a rough road there. Found it cash only when we got there but had enough to enjoy their delicious coconut shrimp and Caesar salad and glass of wine. The upper level was closed for the... More

The taxi ride up was interesting with a nice driver who spoke good English. Honestly, it was SO high that you somewhat lost the perspective of PV, the beaches and how lovely it is. I ordered lobster stuffed chicken breast which came with some cold rice. The chicken breast seemed to have had severe freezer burn, and then microwaved until... More
