As you approach this cafe, in a little non-descript neighborhood north of El Centro, the aroma of roasting beans wafts up your nose. Greeted by Wenceslao, roasting local Mexican coffee in this town for over 20 years, you know this is something special. 3 degrees of roasting - light, medium and dark, and custom ground to your specifications. I have... More

Wenceslao and Julie provide wonderful coffee, roasted and brewed on site, and the many visitors who stop by are a rare treat for multi-lingual travelers. "Wen" speaks four languages, and If you enjoy good coffee (including water-processed decaf), this is the place to go. If you're lucky, he will play and sing Mexican tunes and Julie will provide jazz-infused harmony.... More

Yes, they roast their coffee beans here...it's the "real deal". My husband is a coffee nut and highly critical or particular about his coffee. The smell is wonderful. Brought back whole beans...the dark roast is robust, strong...not for your vanilla-flavored frappe types. Looking forward to allowing more packing room to bring home more on next visit.

Cafe Oro Verde is a hidden gem in the hustle and bustle of Puerto Vallarta! I'm from Seattle and consider myself a coffee snob so when someone told me about the "best coffee in Puerto Vallarta" I had to check it out. This coffee is so fresh and pure, it's roasted directly in the back and hand poured in the... More

Took a little bit of time, but found this unbelievable coffee shop, thanks to TripAdvisor. I was lucky to sit down with the owner, Wen, who speaks very good English, share a cup of coffee and treat, and talk about a myriad of subjects. What a super nice guy and GREAT FRESH COFFEE ! I purchased several pounds for myself... More

I went into a non-descript cafe along a less-beaten path on Puerto Vallarta's Colombia St, Cafe Oro Verde. There, owner and coffee roaster Wenceslao made up my double cafe latte and proceeded to discuss music, singing, an artists life, and also produced two hand made south American guitars, singing and playing both in what amounted to a casual mini concert.... This cafe has been run by Wences Aguirre for the past 20 years or so- in one location or another around PV. Wen roasts his own coffee and sells it in bulk or by the cup- either way it is the best coffee you will find in the area- or maybe anywhere. This is enough to get you to find... More

While not easy to find, this place is worth the effort. The owner knows everything about coffee, roasting it right there. A very interesting fellow. We drink decaf, which is a problem. Mostly it is processed using chemicals and inferior beans. The ideal is a gentle water process. This year, Oro Verde had water-processed decaf, so we bought a kilo... More

Great spot for an espresso and whole beans roasted on site by Wen, a true professional in the coffee roasting business. He taught me a lot about the history of coffee in Mexico. We really appreciate the care and thought that goes into his business around coffee. We are taking home a kilo of each roast and will be back... More

Tucked away about 3 blocks east of Villa Premier and Buenaventura is this very small coffee shop. Well worth hunting down. The owner is a friendly fellow who spent some years in Seattle and knows his coffee. It is a cut above. I ended up buying a kilo of medium roast and had it ground. I didn't know a kilo... More
