It's a great experience eating at El Gallo Pitagorico. Depending where you seat you can have a great view of the city. I recommend to have pasta and wine. The service is impeccable. The name of the restaurant is inspired by homonymous book written by Juan Bautista Morales between 1842 and 1844.

Try to arrive just before sunset to watch the light change over the city and the mountains. For us, a trip to Guanajuato is not complete without at least one meal at El Gallo Pitagórico (The Pythagorean Rooster). Excellent pasta, our friends ordered fillet and pronounced it excellent as well. Limited wine selection, but you can probably take your own... More

Well this place is all about the view which, if you can snag a window seat is breathtaking. Beyond that the food is poor. We had a pasta dish and a steak dish. Sauces on both tasted like they came from food service central. But what really bugged me was they served me a wine different from what I ordered... More

My wife and I had lunch at this restaurant! The view is breathtaking and the service was excellent. We both had the spinach lasagna and loved it. It's definitely a great spot to enjoy the cityscape. No complaints here...

I love the location and the view, you can't find a better place to drink wine and watch the city light up after sunset. The service is excellent, very professional -- the staff has been trained well. I want to love the food too, but it's just above average. Pasta overcooked, arrabiatta sauce was pretty bland (no red pepper heat),... More

El Gallo is up many seemingly endless flights of stairs but is worth it when you get to the top as you have a pretty view of the rooftops of GTO. The food is quite good and the prices semm reasonable for the quality. My main advice, get there early as there are 2 big windows each with a table... More

We visited on a rainy day and the owner was kind enough to let us in a little early while the crew was still cleaning up the place. The service continued to be great through the evening. Views were also great however the food left much to be desired. A couple of cold plates were good however the main plates... More

El Gallo Pitagorico has a lot to offer---great views of the city, a romantic setting, original folk art on the walls and friendly service. We had a pasta dish and fish which at best were average. However, the cappuccino and tiramisu were delicious. We wished the main dishes had been better, because the setting is very special. A word of... More
