I made a reservation two weeks in advance, was sent numerous texts to verify the reservation. When we arrived, my reservation couldn't be found. We were given a table next to a black plastic wall and the wait station that was busy and somewhat frantic....Quite a distraction. The food was good, but the atmosphere was awful. Such a disappointment for my birthday dinner.More

Went for lunch. Nice view of the Zocalo. The food was good (I posted some pictures). There was a shift change while we were there which was odd (it was 1pm) so the service was a little off.

This restaurant is on the roof of the Zocalo Central Hotel where we were staying. The food was excellent and the service too. The view from the balcony over the central square is superb. Highly recommended for a good breakfast and excellent dinner menu

We arrived in Mexico City quite late on a Saturday night and stayed at an airport hotel. As our flight to Manzanillo on the Sunday didn't leave until the early evening, we took the metro into Zocalo square (20 pesos return for the 2 of...us). After walking around the square, and checking out the cathedral, and a few other sights, we want up to El Balcon del Centro for lunch. They were finishing breakfast and didn't start lunch until 1pm but they sat us in the lovely restaurant foyer and offered us tea, coffee or water. We were seated in the restaurant just after 1pm. We were given a small amuse bouche to get us started, then both had the tortilla soup to start, with my wife having the red snapper for the main course and myself having the duck ravioli with seared foie gras. All the food was excellent - the best food we had in our 2+ weeks in Mexico. My wife's snapper was very substantial, allowing me to have my duck ravioli as a second starter and have quite a bit of her fish a main. The service was excellent, and, with a couple of drinks each, the cost was no more than a basic one course lunch at home. As a bonus, from the balcony of the restaurant you can get a great view of the cathedral, and the square. This was altogether a great way to start our Mexican vacation.More

We've been here for the first time on a late morning. The place is beautiful with a great view. The food is just amazing. This is Mexican breakfast at its finest. We ordered a meat tlayuda with grasshoppers to share; then a omelette with salmon...and another omelette with corn smut, Oaxaca cheese and escamoles (Mexican ant eggs) that was just perfect. As a digestive I could recommend El Ultimo Trago it is made with Mezcal and a Mexican milk-like beverage called Atole. The drink a bit expensive but great and original. This place is a must at Mexico City.More

I’ve been remiss in my review. I was here a few months ago. We stopped in after wandering around Centro. I googled best views in CDMX and this restaurant came up. It did not disappoint...just wish we’d been here at sunset. The food was delicious...and the service was great. There was a small wait but they gave us taco chapulines while we waited! Go, grab a drink and sit for spell!More

Staying in the hotel for the week, we had breakfast here each morning and a few of dinners. All the the food we had was very good, including the tasting men, and it's worth saving some room for dessert. It can get busy, so you...may want to reserve a table in advance.More

The day was quite hot and I chose to sit on the roof under an umbrella. It was hot. They do have an inside area that was cooler. The view is of the back wall of part of Mexico City's Cathedral complex so that wasn't...too exciting--but it was different. The two of us paid 525 pesos not including a tip--a bit more than I might expect for the establishment but the food was o.k.More

Great place for the view...We sat outside had a delicious panini and cold draft beer. A great place to relax after walking around Temple Mayor and the Zocalo.

Loved the restaurant at the 6th floor of the Hotel Zocalo Central, right at the corner from the Catedral Metropolitana in front of the Zocalo itself, the place has the best view in all Mexico City and the prices of drinks and meals were awesome,...for two great beers (Bohemia Obscura) and a main dish consisting in salmon with tamarind mole sauce (it was superb) I paid around 20 dollars!!! The service was great, the waiter even gave me roasted chapulines for free because I wanted to taste them, I arrived at 7:10pm and found many empty tables, but by 8:30pm the place was packed. Is very safe to walk around this streets at Centro Histórico, even at night, overall I loved the place.More

Stayed at the hotel and whilst I loved the hotel staff and our room this restaurant was a big disappointment. I would recommend walking in taking picture checking out the view and walking out again. The staff won't even realise you haven't sat down. I...wanted on average 20 minutes to be given a menu and then ten minutes for someone to take our order. We wanted another 45 mins for them to serve my fiances wine. Which was quite poor. The only thing that saves this place is the amazing views. Such a shame as the hotel is amazing to stay in. We had breakfast and there was no buffet and I have to say it was over priced. Also slightly cold and they got my fiance's order wrong. It took five waiters to actually take, chase up order order and serve my partner wine. It was like faulty towers. We went for drinks upstairs but the menu was too narrow for us to actually eat there. Unless you want old school Mexican, it's hard to find anythign. The food was very Mexican aimed at local businessmen. I am sorry but I don't like a eating worms - a local cuisine.More
