I was treated to dinner here by my cousins who are from Mexico City. Generations of family have dined here when visiting. The building itself is historic, foundations in 1795, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of a time when dining was an experience not just a meal. The menu was extensive and there were also specials of the day. Choice... More

The place memorable... decorated with curiosities and a decore that is unique. The menu robust and whether you like mild or spicy you have options. The mariachis are what make the place a flare... the combo professional and skilled. Let them perform or dedicate a few songs... My suggestion is to start the night early and eat, drink and sing... If you are reluctant to Mexican food because of being different, wait to taste this place. We ordered Lengua de Res, Róbalo a la pimienta and Arracheras for main course, and Indias vestidas and Tacos de rib eye.... Awesome! Three people with a three meal menus with Mariachis in a typical Mexican colonial house for less than USD 100

From the moment you walk into this place it has a wow feeling. My Mexican hosts paid for a group of us so I can't comment on price -- but it really is a great place to enjoy a fine meal while being entertained by the local musicians. The tequila probably played a role too

This restaurant is amazing! Once a private home it is delightful in its decor, spaciousness and social tiers and balcony. You pass the specialized medical bar on the way in. My friends, who partook loved the variety and tastes. I stuck with the delicious margaritas. Food veried from onion soup to crickets for starters. Beef tongue to chicken mole as examples of... More

The interior of this restaurant is very unique, beautiful and interesting. The service is excellent and courteous. The Mexican food is authentic and good. Order the escamoles or fried larvae - they are surprisingly tasty. I will be bringing visitors here as it is a really fun dining experience.

This authentic Mexican restaurant just blows the mind - mexican menu items I had never seen before (nopales vinaigrette) and standards prepared artfully. It is so beautiful inside. I have eaten at El Candelero twice, the first time, the food was wonderful, the second time, rather ordinary, although the quality was fine. I will be going again to find out which of the two experiences is the more common. The service is good, but not outstanding. The decor creates a good atmosphere, and there are usually mariachi players... More
