We visited tonight and felt it was pricey for what we got. But first, the good things. The restaurant is attractive with good decor and a pleasant atmosphere. We were seated immediately, as it was not too buy. On the menu was a good selection of bruschetta - but in some other restaurants these are offered as an Amuse Bouche,... More

Finding all my favorite restaurants closed at 3:00 on Sunday afternoon, I decided to try Vieja Lira for lunch. What a delightful discovery! The pizza is delicious, the wine excellent and the atmosphere very pleasant. This goes right onto my favorites list! Next visit I plan to come in the evening and experience to roof terrace!

Very accommodating. Customer friendly. We asked for good wine. Wanted a small plate of local cheeses, fruits and nuts. Presentation was beautiful.

The place itself looks nice, especially the first part. I cannot comment on the salads or pasta's, but both the Temperanillo and Malbec are way to acid. Pizza bottom has a 'flowerish' taste, nothing close to an Italian pizza. Coverings ok, but rather neutral in flavour. Service ok.

Overall, this is a great place to enjoy a fine Italian meal in Oaxaca. The bread plate and accompanying salsas start the meal with a strong first impression. The wine list is extensive and well rounded to suit all budgets. I had the gnocchi with an excellent quattro formaggio cream sauce. Balanced and smooth, it was a real treat. One... More

Ordered the primavera pizza, absolutely delicious. The best pizza we've had in Oaxaca. Excellent wine list, great decor and friendly fast service. Definitely going back.

The potions are very generous and the food tasty. The service , though helpful, is rather unfocused and they could do with a maitre d .

Stopped in for light apps and some wine near the end of another day with one of those large Oaxacan lunches. We were immediately impressed by the extensive wine list with strong Italian and Chilean offerings. Ordered the pate and charcuterie (meat lovers) and again impressed by the size of the "apps." Seems like a theme in Oaxaca. Enjoyed a... More

This place is right across from the Ethnobotanical garden near the Templo Santo Domingo in Oaxaca. We went in to duck a 10 minute rain storm and stayed for a couple of hours. This is an Italian restaurant with excellent food and wonderful presentation. This place has an extensive wine selection for Mexican restaurants. They also sell plates of cheeses... More
