Itanoni is an airy, smallish local restaurant that features "tetelas" (delicious, thin flour tortillas, stuffed with your choice of ingredients, folded into triangles and then griddled), excellent tamales in banana leaves and other Oaxacan snacks. All are prepared on clay griddles before your eyes and everything delicious. My wife and I had an excellent lunch there for about six dollars for... More

The spiritualized eggs were my favorite breakfast in Oaxaca. Four kinds of organic corn flour. Tetelas. It's all fantastic and a learning experience.

In two weeks, this is the only restaurant we'll visit multiple times. The food is so delicious, especially mushrooms "tetelas" (triangle pockets) and "ese" (with hola santa pressed into the tortilla). The blue corn is different from white, and oh so good. This place is real Oaxaca. While we were eating lunch, it was filled with families, couples, solos, and... More

It's all about the corn here ! And it is all delicious. This is a rustic unassuming eatery that serves extraordinary food. Do not be fooled by the ambience. This place has some seriously good food at ridiculous prices. We ate our way through the menu and everything was tasty. The fresh corn tortillas made in front of your eyes... More

Itanoni has an extensive menu of corn-based antojitos that are some of the best I had during six weeks in Mexico. They're super fresh and really tasty as a result. We pretty much just ordered one of each variety, which I'd recommend to people looking to try a little bit of everything, and it was very filling and cheap too.... More

Itanoi is a simple place trying to preserve the old ways of growing and harvesting heirloom corn and making fresh tortillas. It is not a fancy place, so don't go expecting this. But the food was delicious and simple and felt healthy. It is outside of the central district and thus a little difficult to get to. Otherwise I would... More

I told my husband the other night that I wanted to find one of those places that Anthony Bourdain tells us about in his travel show, the kind of place that has plastic tables and chairs and authentic delicious food is prepared on the spot in a simple setting. We found it here at Itanoni. This place is open for... More

It is one of my favorite restaurants in Oaxaca. You can take a look -and a taste- to hand made tortillas right there in front of you. Delicious oaxaca style breakfast. It is really good food, fair price and so typical for foreigners.

We ate here on our last day in town. My only regret is that we didn't go earlier in our visit so we could have gone back more than once. Excellent, interesting food in a beautiful atmosphere. Loved watching them cook our food on the comal.

My husband and I ate here twice and we enjoyed many different kinds of heirloom corn prepared in various ways. The four different kinds of tamales were delicious and so were the different kinds of tortillas. The pozole soup was very good. The agua frescas were refreshing.
