This is the best food we had in Oaxaca. It was so good that after our first visit we returned for the tasting menu with pairings. Expensive (for Oaxaca but not compared to what it would cost in the US) but well worth it. The food was excellent and the servers were friendly and informative. We discovered this place towards... I traveled to this beautiful state in southern Mexico and I was amazed for the colonial and the arqueological sites, until I had diner at Pitiona restaurant, wich was very disappointing form the begining, is a very pretentious place, the service was slow, over price dfor the delicious Oaxaca style food, maybe not in mood for this type of experience... We ordered a la carte here and weren't nearly as impressed as we were at other fine dining spots in Oaxaca. Everything was OK, but there wasn't as much depth of flavor. At this price point, our expectations were a bit higher. Service was good in general, but there was a long lull while we sat with finished cocktails waiting... More

A top restaurant in Oaxaca for quality local fare. Enjoyed a delicious lunch here of shrimp mole for me and salad for my wife. Lovely setting, easy walk near center of town.

As you walk into the restaurant you will start seeing interesting paintings, furniture and interior design objects that will catch your eye. And this is good, because all of it is made by local -and famous- artists and it is for sale. The food is a blend between traditional flavors and Oaxacan haute cuisine. I strongly suggests you ask for... More

Had the tasting menu here; which was varied and interesting. I wouldn't recommend the wine flight though- when we dined there, it mainly consisted of beers and foreign wine- I think the taxes on local wines had become prohibitive. Expensive for Oaxaca but a more experimental chef so an interesting experience

For various reasons we ate early so found ourselves in a room with non-Mexicans. Not a problem, but the segregation continued all evening. Staff were attentive and prompt in their service. The food was interesting and largely well cooked, although the octopus amuse-bouche was overdone. The magret of duck was good, the suckling pig seemed more like pork belly but... More

One of the restaurants open on Sunday. We chose not to go for the tasting menu, but to order in the usual manner. To start we shared the smoked salad which came as two separate and sufficient portions with a glass cover trapping the smoke. It was a novel and enjoyable dish with lettuce, tiny beets, and what appeared to... More
