We went to hear the jazz musician that plays on Thursday and it was great. We did have dinner and drinks. The food was good but overpriced. The margaritas were served in very small glasses. The first one was good but second was poor. Would not recommend this restaurant for food but just the music.

Do not know where to begin. This review is the collective thoughts from 5 well travelled adults that have been coming to Cancun for between 20 and 30 years. All of us reside in Cancun for part of the year, anywhere between 3-6 months/year, point being that we are very familiar with the local restaurant scene. The short version is... More

This quaint little bistro is located in a Hotel on Pok ta Pok, and is a gem. We have a marvelous Belgian meal, good drinks, marvelous atmosphere, and an attentive wait staff. I recommend it highly.

La Palapa Belga is hard to find, but once you get there you are met by friendly staff and get to rest with a quiet view of the lagoon. If the food were as good/pleasant as the ambiance, this would be a place to recommend. However, food is unimaginative, poorly presented, and with very little unique flavor - you could... More

This restaurant was one of our go to places whenever we went to Cancun, but about 2 years ago we took it off our list due to a meal that was subpar. This year we decided to try it again as reviews in tripadvisor told of a comeback. The food was better than 2 years ago, but not as good... More

La Palapa Belga is a beautiful restaurant situated on the bay. The food is wonderful and the view is beautiful. The jazz musician playing the flute and sax was very enjoyable. Our group of eight had the The fish of the day, shrimp, and two. Everyone enjoyed their meal very much. We tried to desserts black berry sorbet vodka and... More

Off the beaten path, through the doors of a local hotel entrance, and then following a meandering courtyard garden path to the lagoon shoreline is the restuarant. It's unique, simple, romantic, accomodating, rustic, very relaxing, un-tourist like, and, well, feels like what being in Mexico is supposed to feel like (given that Cancun was developed from the ground up in... We usually stop at the La Palapa Belga when we visit Cancun. The thing we enjoy most is the atmosphere. The restaurant is in a quiet neighborhood immediately in front of the lagoon. We enjoyed a full moon above the hotels, lighting the lagoon, under a palapa. The food is average and a little overpriced. My wife ordered French Onion... More

Quaint restaurant, difficult to find. Had French Onion Soup, Escargot and Pork Tenderloin. Very good. Service was mediocre, poor English. Had Margaritas, could have been served in larger glass. Overall quite enjoyable.

Overpriced restaurant for the worst food we have had in one whole month in Mexico. We checked their website before going and the reviews and it seemed perfect. When the food arrived we left most of it because it was awful. We asked for explanations and discovered the cook changed, the food too, but not the prices...a scam!

If you are lucky enough to find this gem hidden behind the pool at the Hotel Imperial Laguna, you will be greatly rewarded with fine cuisine at a reasonable price, gracious service, and a table on the lagoon with a beautiful view of the hotel zone.
