We stopped here because we wanted a place to have drinks, lunch and lay out by the beach. It was exactly what we were looking for. The tacos were great and the beer cold. A bit pricey but we used their towels and chairs so...seemed fair to us.More

This is a relatively new spot on Isla, and we enjoyed it a lot. Beautiful location, and it offers a real respite from the hustle and bustle of Downtown. Food and drinks were good, and a good value. My only knock on it is the...attentiveness of the service, which was a little lacking in contrast to the rest of the area -- but that could be part of being new... Will not stop is from returning soon.More

Upscale (for island life) to lounge by pool or private beach. Drinks are great, music is poppn', food is good. Worth checking out if you want to splurge a little

Like someone else said, beautiful place but the food is a bit pricey for what it is. To be fair, we only got drinks and an appetizer but we were not too impressed by either. The service was truthfully the most disappointing part of the...visit. Took me having to get up to get anything ordered and get the check.More

The drinks are quality. Mix is made from fresh fruit pureed on the spot for every cocktail, top shelf liquor, the food is 5 star (had the fish tacos which were a crunchy golden brown with a dozen other ingredients, and the rib eye tacos...which were so good I ordered another order to take to my room), the service is great and they even offer food delivered to your beach chair if you so choose. Highly recommend!More

Tried the recommended Guru specialty drink w smoked mezcal as recommend - best ever tasty, spicy/flavorful - better smoked!!! We decided to visit Isla Mujeres and given the time we would arrive we wanted to have lunch first. Tom found a place on TripAdvisor with good reviews and it looked nice so we rented a golf cart when we arrived on the island and...off we went. The name of the restaurant is Guru located in the Lotus Hotel. It’s actually easily walkable from where the ferry drops you off but we wanted to go around the island so we used the golf cart. The interior is lovely and has a courtyard with a pool and access to the beach. The beach is Playa Norte, which is widely Acknowledged as one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico. We ordered fish tacos and I ordered the house cocktail not surprisingly called the guru. And yes we also ordered the truffle fries! The service was excellent and the food came very quickly and it was hot and delicious. Our waiter also made a point to tell us that we were welcome to use the pool or the beach from their location. And we did do that. As we were leaving the restaurant to go down to the beach the manager yelled out at us—O—H. As any Ohio Buckeye knows that’s the mating call with which you respond I—O. So we responded appropriately and the manager told us that he had gone to the Max Fisher school of business at Ohio State University! He was there for seven years while he was married but ultimately came back to his home and is now near Cancun on Isla Mujeres. We had fun reminiscing and he really knew Columbus well. so to sum up the food was excellent, the environment clean and attractive, and the manager clearly knows what he is doing! we highly recommend the next time you find yourself in this area that you seek out guru restaurant and if you’re a buckeye make sure to introduce yourself to the manager, Maurice.More
