A short walk from ground zero Centro is Casa de Frida, home of Chile en Nogada. The menu is limited as is the wine list, but go for the Chile en Nogada, a plump poblano chile stuffed with all sorts of magical items. Coco the bunny is no longer hopping through and is missed.

I would say that this was one of the worst places that I visited while in Merida. I went for dinner and they only offered a few options and none of them seemed good, but alas I opted to try their specialty Chile and nogado. That was... well in fact I don't really know what it was but it was... More

Went to this restaurant for dinner. The ambiance is excellent. The decor is Mexican and artistic. Staff are attentive but like most part of Merida, spoke little English. We ordered crispy chicken taco and ring eye steak. The portions are large and tasted great. The price is was reasonable. We will go back for sure.

We stayed just a few blocks away from Frida's, and I had read online they had a bunny named Coco. I made the mistake of mentioning that to the kids and they wouldn't stop talking about it. So, we stopped in for lunch on our way back to the house one day. The place was empty when we arrived, which... More

Oh, how we loved this restaurant !!! We've been to Merida many times and always stopped at Frida's - the first time in 1998. Sadly, this year's visit will be our last. The service was always been slow, but now only shouting through the kitchen window bring the reluctant waiter out. The rabbit is retired and gone. The menu is... More

After being recommended by the usually trustworthy Lonely Planet, three friends and I decided to give the Freida restaurant a try. We were all appalled at the cold, overpriced food that we were served. I chose the recommended chef's special; this consisted of a cold green pepper with a white sweet sauce and galcé cherries on top. It was filled... More

The food was quite good, especially the mole negro -- nuttier than usual, with a nice lingering heat. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there, but very solid if you're in the neighborhood. Prices reasonable -- dinner for family of five (including two margaritas and a beer ) came to mxn 720 w tip. BUT...there was no... More

We had no expectation before we went at La casa de Frida. We had a great chicken Mole plate and great drinks aswell. The waiter was very nice, but very busy... Overall, we had a good experience.

On a back street out from the main square. Interestingly decorated restaurant, simple menu. We had two yummy courses, and two drinks and the bill was less than £25 equivalent. Entertained by the pet rabbit who hopped around. Not high class dining, but wholesome and authentic!

We found this place while staying at the hotel just a block away. We had breakfast here, breakfast menu looks ordinary but the quality was impressive! Love the colourful decoration and the brightly lit courtyard. Also some light piano music playing =)
