This is a favorite first day/arrival place for us; after a flight and the long drive from Cancun to Merida we really like the Impala. It has a friendly staff, great outdoor seating and an easiness about it that makes for an easy introduction to Merida. The chicken tortilla soup is amazing! Its a true meal in a bowl. I... More

I had a salad that was bland and covered in chewy chicken, I coudl only stomach a few bites. I also ordered a sopa de lima and it was very delicious. The service was the worst however, completely ignored once our food arrived.

...at one of the sidewalk table at the Cafeteria Impala. Our sandwiches were pretty good, too, and the drinks hit the spot. Combine all of this--especially the great location--and it;s a nice experience.

This old fashioned Diner/Cafe is a great place to sit and have a sandwich with chips, and a cerveza. There is great people watching, and when we were there at about 8pm with our kids, it was all locals. The Cochinita pibil is always a safe choice!

Stopped here for lunch. Made the mistake of ordering Serrano ham and cheese sandwich. So chewy we could hardly eat it. There were a ton of flies buzzing around so you had to eat with one had and swat with the other. Server seemed totally disinterested. For us, not a good lunch experience. Many better options in the area.

This an institution opened since 1958, and for the longest time the only place where you could have a bite to eat after 10 PM in Merida. It is located at the beginning of "Paseo de Montejo" with our outdoor seating, and serves cafeteria like options like sandwiches, burgers, etc. This is not a place for fine dining, but a... More

This place is an institution in Merida that's been around since 1958. The location is cool, right at the start of Paseo de Montejo, with (only) outdoor seating. The food is simple but tasty: sandwiches, burgers, fries etc. They serve beer and wine, too. But it is all about their frappe frutas! Kind of a fresh fruit agua fresca slushie!... More

We walked the paseo and found this gem. The sandwiches are huge and to die for. The lime chicken soup - excellent. A not to be missed visit.

There will not be a single day during lunch or dinner time that you can go by Impala and not see it full of locals enjoying their wonderful sandwiches with chips. (We were lucky to arrive late just as everybody was leaving.) Not to be missed!
