RECOMMENDED: 6 nights at Fairmont -- 3 nights eating at Casa Amate. Sadly, the ENTIRE Mayakoba resorts we found to have poor food (over priced and low value). We found Casa Amate to have a pleasant setting, good service, reasonable prices (barely), small menu and generally well executed. Nice selection of Mexican wines (try them - they're great).

We were staying at the Fairmont, but we heard about the Casa Amate being one of the top restaurants in Mayakoba so we went there for Sunday brunch and we were glad that we did. The food was outstanding and the service very friendly. There was also live music and singing, which made it one of the best brunches that we have ever enjoyed.

The Casa Amate has a wonderful Sunday Brunch with 3 levels to suit your beverage needs. A 'soft' version, with juices, coffees and teas, a 'hard' version with cocktails, and wine, and a champagne version with free flowing Verve Cliquot. Having 3 of us at the table, one of which is almost teetotal, we had the opportunity to try all three. The food is amazing, freshly cooked meat and seafood from the grill, lamb barbacoa, cochinita pibil, quesadillas with freshly made tacos, the dessert station was heaving. Additionally they had ceviches that we ordered from the server that are made to order in the kitchen. The drinks flowed quickly and we really enjoyed the experience as did quite a few other parties it seems. After the meal came to a close we were very happy to go for a walk and stretch our legs after the feast.

Everybody knows that Mayakoba is awesome place. And Casa Amata is very cozy and clean. But what’s up with the food?! The brunch became so poor. And how is it possible to put already cold well done grilled salmon and prawns back to the fire?! The seafood protein becomes rubbery. The wine was terrible too. Meat and tortillas are good. The desserts looked more like purchased from some pastry shop but fine. It’s not Mayakoba level. The service is wonderful and attentive but very intrusive, each employee asks you every 30 seconds if everything is fine. I hope after the pandemic everything will return to normal. Because for the moment mark 3 is too much. The level of this location implies that guests are the people who travel and know what the level and service should be.

We tried all 4 restaurants at Andaz. Tinto was our favorite for both breakfast and lunch. Prices at Andaz are US resort prices, and this was by far the most expensive meal we have had in years (more than $150 for 1 appetizer, 1 gin & tonic, 1 mocktail, 2 main courses, 2 desserts). Our dessert at Sotavento was better than at Casa Amate.

A normal dining evening here is a delight. We were most satisfied with the outstanding starters. Each one exceptional. Walter is a fantastic waiter here, able to help steer your dining selections and make your evening quite enjoyable. We were there also for a second dining experience that was quite exceptional when they welcomed a visiting chef from Oaxaca. Chef Gomez collaborated with visiting Chef Olga Cabrera to create an extremely special menu with mezcal and wine pairings. Not only was it delicious, it was downright reasonable in price. If you are lucky enough to be on property for one of these special evenings, we cannot recommend it enough. GO!

We have dined at Casa Amate a few times in the past and it was always a highlight of our trip to the Andaz. This was our first time going since pre-pandemic and the quality of the food, service (our lovely waiter Cristian), and atmosphere have remained top notch, if not better (they’ve added DJ music starting at 9 which brings a really cool upbeat while still sophisticated vibe to your dining experience). The food is so unique, and spotlights local Mexican foods and flavors. We have been to the other restaurants across Mayakoba and Amate is still our favorite. Also recommend going early to grab a drink in the very cool lounge - great cocktails and service.

I can't say enough wonderful things about the experience we had at Casa Amate. Although there are many great dining options on the Mayakoba property and in the Riviera Maya region, my husband and I ate at Casa Amate multiple times during our stay. We couldn't get enough of the Totoaba Tiradito and Latin Trilogy dishes, both of which offer unique combinations of bright and satisfying flavors. On each of the nights that we visited, we were warmly and lovingly greeted by Francisco and Andrea, who welcomed us as though we were family. We then started with a drink at the beautiful bar, prepared by Daniel, a highly skilled mixologist who provided impeccable service. Christian, our server, took exceptional care of us and offered the perfect balance of presence and privacy that makes dining in a place like this so comfortable. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning, making you feel like you're inside of a gorgeous, impeccably decorated and uniquely inviting home. It's a standout experience from start to finish, and I can't recommend it enough!

We were seated right by the beautiful tree outside. The service from Capitán David and Ronu were very kind and attentive. Mi novio does not drink alcohol and received a custom non-alcoholic cocktail from the bartender made just for him. The food was delicious- loved the mole pavo and the corn dessert was absolutely brilliant. Excellent and kind service paired with delicious food made for a fabulous date night.

All other restaurants at Andaz are fabulous. This one, however, is overpriced and terrible. I got a piece of fish that had waay too much seasoning on it. Good fish should be served simply. But the worst thing was that my 20 yo daughter decided she wanted to try Casa Azul tequila. Well they ran out but said they had something comparable. So we said ok we will try it. They never told us that each shot would cost more than a dinner entree. The bill was about $150 for 4 shots. At the end of the night my husband said something to the manager. He merely shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Ridiculous. Will never return. But I will return to the Andaz. Great resort with great food except here.

We came here on the last day of our trip on 2019 and were so excited to come again this time around. We’ve eaten here twice in the last 4 days! Shout out to our server Ivan, who treated our family like royalty both times - and was so incredibly accommodating to our family, which includes a rowdy 3 year old. Food was so beautifully presented and tasted great! The ambiance is also really nice - it has the comfort of eating at relatives’ while still experiencing high class food and service. Highly highly recommend if you are staying in Mayakoba!

VERY accommodating with kosher if you’re an observant Jew. Chef Ari knew all of the rules, served us in tinfoil, used plastic etc. the staff is amazing as well. Andres, our waiter was always around, he gave us a new set of dinnerware for each course as well as refilled our glasses and checked in on us constantly. We came for a later dinner around 9:00 so the restaurant was quite empty as their rush is around 6. 10/10 recommend

Our waiter, Cristian, was such a polite gentleman. Every single staff member provided unquestionable service during our dinner. The food was out of this world, you could taste every single different ingredient. An explosion of distinctive, light, and smooth flavors withe every bite. Everyone was so polite and attentive without being invasive. I cannot say enough positive things about the place and its workers. My family and I Highly recommend Casa Amate to anyone visiting Andaz Mayakoba.

Probably the best restaurant we visited during our 5 day tulum trip. We shared 2 starters, the salad with the tuna and avocado, and the octopus. Both were amazing. The octopus was prepared perfectly, so soft it melted in your mouth. For entrée my boyfriend had the short rib dish and I had the duck. Both were delicious! Short rib was perfection, so was the duck. Our server Ivan was so attentive and took his time explaining all the dishes which helped a lot because my boyfriend had a hard time deciding between a couple dishes. You really can’t find this level of service in tulum. The restaurant manager was also very kind and gave us a quick tour of the „house“. It was the perfect ending to our trip.

We went as a couple for their Sunday brunch and were extremely surprised at the quality of everything. Since the door opens you are greeted by the warmth or Victor, then Ivan takes over with his vast experience, he knows exactly how to pair every dish with supreme wines of his choosing, is a master in explaining everything, with an unbeatable genuine care and attention to detail, it was so refreshing to be pampered by him. Francisco the manager as well is outstanding in his professional yet warm and kind approach. The bartender as well has a lot of knowledge and makes amazing mezcalitas! the staff was by far the best I've experienced in 11 years living in the area. The food and setting as well are amazing, we had the huitlacoche quesadillas, oysters with amazing sauces, and their cochinita pibil is out of this world, all topped with amazing Mexican wines. A whole top level experience not to be missed. We'll be back soon!!
