Reportedly one of Avenida Tulum’s eldest Coffee Shops, Babel Café remains popular amongst locals as well as tourists, the combination of shade and friendly service paired to everything from Sandwiches and Waffles to a collection of handmade Breads and Pastries.
Open from 7:30am until 10:00pm daily, with prices similar to other like-Eateries, it is from a counter in back that over a dozen choices are offered, the doughy Raisin Roll a lone disappointment while heart-shaped Pecan Pie and moist Banana Bread each rivaled versions twice as pricey in America.
Covering a lot of ground with the collection, Cheesecake and Pudding also offered in a chilled case, Viennoiseries are highlighted by a flat but pleasant Chocolate Almond Croissant while South America’s Alfajore is presented in classic form with two crumbly Cookies sandwiching Dulce de Leche.

I love Babel. I have been going to the cafe for years to eat and work remotely; each year the staff continues to turn tables during the breakfast rush and push out delicious drinks and plates all week. I will continue to stop in for a chai and relax in the sun while in Tulum.

We are dissapointed. We came here because of reviews, and what we've ordered waffles. One with caramel and banana was ok, but I got maple sirup mixed with water to it and also coffee wasn't good. My boyfriend ordered waffles with Bacon and eggs and got no veggies with it so it was really dry. Also the price are not so cheap as it's said om trip advisor. Maybe this place was great time ago, but for now it's so so

I love the place, the food is really super delicious. I have eaten chicken sandwich, ham sandwich and motuleños eggs, everything has a homemade seasoning. The coffee is even better, it has a lot of flavor but does not irritate the stomach. If you like coffee with a sweet touch, eat the caramel latte again, it is sweet but you can feel the flavor of the coffee and it does not cloy. hot or frappe they taste delicious. Whenever I have the opportunity I will come to have lunch here. 🫶🏻💓

Very nice place with wide menu even though it was already a bit full in the morning. I had this beautiful waffle with bananas and caramel and it was cheap and very tasty. The lemonade was also great. I preferred to pay when I ordered at the counter to make service faster. It worked. Thanks!

I heard of this place through a write up in the Independent paper in the UK. We had the Waffles and Chilaquiles, which I heard alot about. However, the coffee was the winner, made just the way I like it. The food and service was good and the cafe was located by the road, so easy to assess. Overall a good experience

I’m always a bit concerned with places on the major strip – but this Breakfast and Brunch place delivered. Super busy and we had to wait 20 mins for a table, but I know why – the food and service is awesome! The sure to try the amazing waffles and one of the best huevos rancheros I’ve ever had!
