Food was delicious and there was a good choice of classic pub food. The decor was lovely and there was a warm friendly atmosphere!

We were staying in Farnham for a couple of days and stopped off at The Fox for drinks. We found the team friendly and we enjoyed watching the locals enjoying a Friday night out. Can't comment on the food as we have not eaten here yet and we'd already booked dinner at The Spotted Cow (highly recommended). We'll be back... More

We have been to The Fox several times but this visit and the previous one in December have been disappointing. The pub was cold today and the service was very slow. When we asked the owner where the food was miraculously ours appeared as did the food for two other tables. Wonder where it had been? The pub was not... More

Afternoon Tea with a friend; friendly, cosy atmosphere and warm, welcoming log fire! Sumptuous extremely well-filled sandwiches; tasty cream horn with home-made lemon curd; huge scones with clotted cream and jam; endless tea ... oh! decadent choclate brownies - I shared mine with the others and enjoyed the extra cream horn (well, not everyone is a chocoholic, eh!) leisurely -... We walked into a quaint old fashioned pub, but with a good atmosphere. There was a roaring log fire, and an impeccably behaved border collie laying nearby, plus a warm friendly welcome from the landlady. The service was brisk and she provided whatever we asked for, without a quibble. We started with curried parsnip soup that came with a warm... More

Nice little pub in a great setting. Food is nice and average price for the area. Good selection of lager and ales. Friendly staff and willing to accommodate larger groups. Definitely recommend.

What a fantastic setting in the village of Finchingfield, with the pub,the antiques and the tea room all in a row. Buffet lunch was laid on and was pretty good with sandwiches, pies, chips and some fabulous home made sausage rolls.Coffee only as driving. Will have to go back and try the beer.

Stopped here whilst on a Sunday drive. What a gem of a find. Lively staff and delicious food. Our roast beef lunch had very lean beef, yorkshire pud, roasties, cauliflower cheese, red cabbage & broccoli. Not the cheapest roast but youget what you pay for! Will return.

Description
The Fox Inn is an 18th Century pub, set in the peaceful village of Matching Tye. The Gibson family took over the pub in 2002, having been in the industry for over 40 years, the pub has gone from strength to strength since then, with the extension of the restaurant and the recent addition of 12 luxury en-suite bedrooms. The pub has a character beamed restaurant with a relaxed friendly atmosphere, and with its 40 seat function room, it is an ideal venue for parties, weddings and conferences. The pub is open 7 days a week, serving good wholesome food from an extensive menu, with roast dinners being served on a Sunday lunch. There is a large family garden with which to enjoy the quiet country summers and ample car parking space.Being a free-house, the pub is able to buy from a variety of breweries, each with an extensive range of beers, wines and other beverages to choose from, making it possible to keep up with not only popular brands, but to experiment with some of the more exotic, little known, products.
