This place may have amazing ice cream but the staff are miserable! I appreciate it's not the most glamorous of work but a smile doesn't cost much. I will not be going back.

Ice creams are excellent, but location poor - difficult to park and no where nice to stroll whilst enjoying before it melted.

After all these years it still produces the best ice cream around and the coffee is good too. An ideal stop for cyclists in the area.

...in my opinion. Grew up in Whitley Bay, been in a lot of ice cream places all over the world trying to find a better vanilla ice cream. Haven't found one yet.

Visited for an afternoon tea on a Sunday. The service was fine, the waitresses and lady chef friendly. Beautifully served on china tea set, the afternoon tea was lovely. There were three plates: one with tasty open sandwiches on little bread buns, freshly baked on the premises, crispy on the outside, chewy and not a bit dry on the inside,... More

I've been going here since I was a child and I have to say it's the best ice cream in the world, yes it's a little expensive and queues are massive but it's well worth it for s treay

This was the most wonderful afternoon tea, everything was home made, beautiful, bone china cups, good quality tea, 4 different sandwiches flavours, all beautifully made. Quiches, savours, light as a feather, Cakes out of this world, we had 5 different cakes, one each, and box to take home what we could not eat. Great service, cafe, warm, very clean and... More

My husband and I occasionally call in here for a coffee or ice cream in the summer. Since the refurbishment however prices have increased dramatically. I used to get a bowl of soup and bun for £2.00 - now it is £4.50. I use the price of soup as a benchmark for prices and £4.50 is usually only to be... More
