Quite a vintage atmosphere. Our family had homemade burgers and fries for lunch. Chicken strips were okay. The children loved the paper cars they received.

We are from High River and drove to Black Diamond for a Sunday drive and Ice cream treat. Went into Marvs grabbed a couple bottles of pop at $3.50 a bottle and waited by the counter for 10 minutes while not one employee even said...hello. Decided to leave, went to pay for our pop and the fella at the till said two words”seven thirty/five”, I paid and left, maybe go to DQ next time!More
Wow!! One of the best burgers I’ve had in Alberta. Tasty Alberta beef which was not over cooked. Great toppings for the right balance of flavours. Pickles were not too “vinegar” tasting which is actually hard to find! Most places use cheap pickles for their...burgers and Marv’s does not. The bun was soft and fresh and really complimented the burger well! Classic soda shop with floats, shakes, classic candies and more. Definitely stop here if you’d like a really fantastic burger.More
Marv, I promised I would visit next time back home here. Made the trip from Vancouver now that we had a break in Covid. Here we are. Food and service great as usual. Glad to see the place so busy, last time here (2016), I...had my doubts. Booger Burger on!More
I loved this place. The fonzie burger was yummy. Fries were crispy and banana split was delicious, especially the strawberry ice cream. Don't listen to the previous reviews. I eat at high end, low end restaurants all the time and this was worth it. The...decor and set up could use a little TLC, however, I felt like I wanted to go back and visit the 50's. Bring the kids to this place for sure if your not on a strict budget. I get the feeling that the reviews on here are made by others who might be slightly cheap!More
Okay, so I was a little leery about this destination, as per previous reviews. I am happy to report back that: the fries are great, super crispy and well seasoned. The drink and candy choices are extensive. Both waitresses we encountered were kind and efficient....AND THE JUKEBOX WORKED 4/4 TIMES WE TRIED IT! An exciting place to pop into for lunch, or a sweet treat, right off Main Street black diamond!More
Used to be a great place for burger and fries. Now they have frozen fries and a burger you can see through. Next time I see Marv asking for help to keep him open, I will ignore him. If he wants to stay open cook...real food not s much of the frozen garbage for $21.00!More
I decided to check out Marvs Diner as I've never been there before. Ordered a burger, onion rings and milkshake for $25.00. I was extremely disappointed in the portion size I will never go back. Average food for a ridiculous price, I could have gone...to Peter's Drive In and had the same meal and milkshake for half the price, I felt totally ripped off.More
I highly recommend! Although I live in Calgary, I make the drive to Black Diamond to experience it all! Nothing like it in the city! I was not fortunate enough to be born early enough to enjoy the “fabulous fifties” so I take it all...I !This restaurant is everything that was fun in the 50s. The vintage wall hangings, retro candies and even the uniforms are classic ! With a jukebox at every table and a menu named for the stars of the tine, it is a place I want to return to oftenMore
We heard about this diner on the news, I had never heard of it before but I love diners and burgers! We drove out and loved it, really tasty burgers, working juke boxes at each table and friendly staff! Will be back!
This is a great place to visit. Many memorable items decorate the walls as a reminder of what things were like in the good old days. This is a true diner experience. We shared a large order of french fries which were hot and delicious....The people here are super friendly.More
Merv is a great guy. The milkshakes are awesome. This is a classic dinner in every sense. If you are in Black Diamond, drop by. It's worth the visit.
Dropped in with wife, daughter and grandkids as they wanted a float. Nice feel about the place ordered floats and wife and I fancied a strawberry sundae, waited and along it came, we both nearly spat them out never tasted anything like it. Turns out...the batch of icecream contaminated with salt ( I hope) offered an alternative but nah that was enough. Sorry but wont be backMore
I have heard of this place for years and finally made it down with my family. The milkshakes are thin. My kids didn’t like them. The rest is burgers and fries- good enough, hard to screw that up. The service was pretty awful. Slow and...disorganized. And SO expensive for a burger and fry place. We won’t be back. The place was pretty much empty at supper time on a long weekend and I totally get why.More
On our recent vacation to Canada, driving from Waterton Lakes to Banff, we decided to have lunch in the Calgary area. I had Marv's on a list of places to try, so we diverted far out of our way to Black Diamond to try it....The place was busy, but not full. There appeared to be far more staff working than would normally be the case for a restaurant of its size, but tables were uncleared of dishes, and it seemed a bit chaotic. We took a table in the front of the restaurant--about as easy to spot as any. For several minutes (at least 10), no one served us though many passed by. We asked a couple servers if they could serve us and were told each time they'd "look into it." One of our party asked at the counter and the register if someone could serve us and was promised someone would, but no one ever came! It was almost like a joke. We saw lots of people at other tables sitting in front of clearly finished plates, looking anxious as if they, too, were being neglected. It all seemed so lackadaisical. We're about as patient as anyone at restaurants, and it's very rare that I walk out of a restaurant, but we did--just a mind-numbingly bad experience. For what it's worth, the place looked appealing with its retro feel. What we saw pfood-wise on other tables, however, did not look appealing at all (lots of uneaten food).More
