This is a small traditional pub with real beers. ,Very good food that is very tasty and very nicely presented some. We were full after starter and mains. You do need to book in the evenings. The menu boards are on line each night which is a great idea. I had slow cooked short beef rib very good a full... More

Just love this place...service is fantastic. Booked a table on line, more or less got an instant reply...arrived, and was greeted by the lovely manager by name, who went through the local beers for my hubby,... The pub is like stepping back in time, roaring Fire, locals, dogs, and atmosphere....the food, unlike SO many pubs, is all freshly cooked, lots... More

Another visit, another faultless performance. Excellent imaginative food, good selection of Thornbridge cask beers, friendly staff and punters and welcomingly warm on a chilly day. Speedy service on a busy weekend lunchtime. Packhorse Platter is brilliant value for money. Dog friendly too. The quintessential English pub.

We have been wanting to spend a couple of evenings in the Packhorse after calling in at lunchtime whilst walking on the Monsal trail. Now we have and are not disappointed - looking forward to another visit! Great Thornbridge ales, Jaipur particularly recommended. Sunday evening busy with people eating but helpfully we were found a cosy corner until booked guests... More

Great food and excellent value for money. Locals and ramblers all enjoying good food and great light ale. We would definitely come back and recommend to our friends. The staff are very friendly and full of recommendations.

Have been going to this pub for over 10 years. Hadn't been for over 6 months but still as good as ever. Even at 545 pm good atmosphere (essential to book as only very small). Great menu that was genuine local Produce and everything clearly home cooked. Children's sausage and chips - 2 big, quality sausage and home cooked chips.... More

I love this pub/restaurant as the food is fabulous and the quaint old fashioned style with beams and crooked floors is just right. Always busy and used by all the locals. Thursday night pub quiz is a great laugh and all proceeds go to charity.

I visited here on a Saturday night with three friends, around 8pm. We had booked earlier in the week and had drinks at the bar before ordering. The menu is good with plenty of choice, without being too extensive. After a lot of thought and asking at the bar we all chose the Belly Pork, served with mashed potatoes. I'm... More

A short trip from Monsal Head and what a great place. Small pub but good ale, wine and most importantly great food. Good service, tasty food - what more can you want. I dreamt that the snow would fall and I would be stranded inside eating and drinking for a few days. Unfortunately it was not snowing and the pub... More

Absolutely delightful unspoilt pub. Roast pork with black pudding and mash for me. Partner had Roast lamb with devilled kidneys and mash. Followed by a couple of Bakewell puddings with custard. Nice pint of Thornbridge Wild Swan . Highly recommended , dogs allowed too.

Thank Muree2
