Had a great evening. Food was excellent and despite them being busy, it came out quickly. We ordered four different meals which were all delicious. Liver was excellent. Staff Made us and our two dogs very welcome. Beers and wines were very good. A lovely place to spend a few hours. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Not too busy when we visited. Ordered the Sunday roast, just how big? Plate came out full of meat a large yorkie and roast potatoes, veg served in a side dish. The children's portion was half the size and still too much for me. Dog friendly. Lovely staff.

We were staying in Sway so it was good to have a pub so close. There's a lovely atmosphere and the staff are freindly. Unfortunately the food is very basic - it seemed to be microwaved and very thrown together with no seasoning. They were very busy but it definitely wasn't worth the money. We went back for a drink... We called in for a quick drink as new to the area. Hubby didn't rate the beer and the mini bottled prosecco was awful! It seemed to attract the older members of the population rather than a mixed age group. This place could be an absolute goldmine as its on the edge of the forest in a fantastic spot, but... More

Lots of delicious dishes and many suitable for vegetarians. A nice little settlement with lots of history behind it. Sunday lunches are a real highlight. Locally sourced, fresh ingredients and clearly homemade dishes. Dogs welcome. One of my favorites.

Visited this pub for dinner having been a few times for drinks and thinking the food always looked good. Warm welcome and wide choice of food. I had the liver, as did my husband. It looked great but was overlooked and the accompanying bacon was so salty it ruined the whole taste for us. Not something we felt we should... More

I always make time for a meal at this pub when I am in the New Forest. This week I went with my young grandchildren. As vegetarians we are used to having to choose from at most 2 veggie options but the Hare and Hounds offered 7 different choices as well as anything a carnivore may wish to eat. The... More

We found this pub via 'near me now' and decided to give it a try as the reviews were mostly good - we weren't disappointed. We both had the pie of the day - chicken & mushroom. It was excellent and a bit unusual as the pie used puff pastry. Good portions, we couldn't manage a pud & good local... More
