Best elk meatballs in town

Happy hour elk meatballs are delicious, $10 for 4 good size ones. Menu has nice diversity, lounge is inviting and bright and the restaurant is quiet and relaxing. The staff have been exceptional at social distancing, mask wearing and professionalism. Always a pleasure to eat here.

Awesome Elk Burger

We went for lunch because my huband's friend had highly recommended the elk burger. Nice ambiance, good selection of burgers & salads for lunch. Service was a bit slow. Also, we ordered diet pepsi & after waiting over 10 minutes, were told they were out of it (really? At 11:30 on Staurday?). Server didn't offer an alternative. Steak sandwich was average, although cooked very well, & the fries were really good. My husband really enjoyed the elk burger, so that didn't disappoint.

It was fairly quiet the evening we ate here but a nice comfy atmosphere with really friendly, helpful servers. We all opted for the 3 course special. Soup or salad, then the Elk Ribs with Gold Mash and Winter Veg, then White Chocolate Mousse, all served well, and absolutely delicious. The Rum Cocktails were a perfect accompaniment. A wonderful family evening..

Food was good, ambience not so good

I had made reservations way in advance and prompted the restaurant that it was our 30th anniversary dinner. We arrived and it seemed that they didn't have a table for us. They sat us at a table set for 4 - however, there were tables of 2 available in the restaurant. This table was not situated in the best of spots. We asked to be moved to an empty table for 2 and were told that there was an issue with 'logistics' and would not be able to. We were however, moved. Our service was ok, however, we noticed another couple who arrived later than us, seated at a nicer table for 2, and were even asked if that table was ok. Their food/drink service was quicker than ours, our server seemed busier and thus quite a bit slower. Food was really good, we had their preset menu. pretty good for the price. Drinks were expensive. There was really no acknowledgement of our special night, so a bit disappointed.

An unexpected treat

A traffic jam "forced" us into Banff for dinner. With half the town closed due to Covid restrictions, we found ourselves at Evergreen Restaurant - the only guests for dinner. Not what we had planned, but very happy with the outcome. We enjoyed a fantastic Elk Shortrib Special. And topped it off with Milk Chocolate Mousse and mixed berries - a delightful combination. The service was excellent as well - clearly not just because we were alone in the dining room.

Food was very good. Good high quality ingredients. We made a reservation for a Friday night but it was not required. We were the only people dining there at that time. The menu isn't large but what's there is good food. Atmosphere is a bit slow. And since we were the only ones there the waiter was a bit more chatty which is not really us. Would definitely recommend this place if traveling to Banff. I had the seafood and chorizo pasta , husband at the feature which was elk short ribs. Came with a lovely carrot soup and a delicious white chocolate dessert that I ended up eating and not sharing.

Very good service, plenty of basic breakfast food

Our hotel along the road didn't offer any dining facilities but we were told we could walk a minute or two down the road and have breakfast here. By declining daily cleaning of our room, we got a voucher to put towards a breakfast here. The dining room was empty when we arrived so the service was fast and attentive. There was plenty of food, nothing that you wouldn't expect - eggs, waffles, sausage (that may have been kept warm a little too long) some fruit salad and pastries and yoghurt. The waffles had definitely been hanging around a while, they were tough and sitting in water, but the fruit salad and yoghurt were really good. Cereals were limited and looked dusty and crushed. I didn't try the pastries but my husband enjoyed his! The dining area was clean but dated. Nice clean restrooms.

Great restaurant but too easy to miss.

Food was excellent and for the first time had Elke which was delicious. Service was also spot on from a young Ukrainian server. He told us that the restaurant has a new chef who is really good and he was right. The sad thing is that the restaurant was empty apart from us and another couple. This is a real gem that needs to improve its marketing and presence.

Small but drop in prices are good at happy hour 3-7 . Food great we’ve had the ribs , flat bread and love the sliders 10.00 filling and great deal. Drinks special 7 to 10 .00 . Helpful and attentive staff . Will go back again have been ther 2 times on 2 different trips.

High value and great service

Sat down for breakfast and was greeted with a smile. My coffee cup was filled immediately and my order was taken at that time. Calla was my waitress and was attentive the entire experience. I presented the royal canadian breakfast. It came with enough food to fill even the heartiest of appetites. My coffee cup was always full and everyone had a smile that worked there. I enjoyed my stay.

We stayed at The Royal Canadian for 2 nights. We had breakfast at The Evergreen restaurant the morning we checked out, and are a little sad we didn't have breakfast the morning before. The menu is not extensive, but there is plenty for everyone to pick from. Our server, Reine was amazing. The service she provided and how quickly the kitchen got the order out was impressive. The food was delicious. We'll definitely eat here again when we are back in Banff. Looking forward to seeing Reine again with her larger than life personality!

Great food and service

We went for a dinner and were pleasently surprised by the quality of food. The restaurant is a little hidden from the street view. It is very nice abient and decoration (traditional). We had elk ribs and a duck and both dishes were of great taste! Service was very good as well. We recommend it. Malgorzata & Jan

Gourmet Burgers??? Really?

Being in Alberta, one would expect beef to be good! This was, by far, the worst burger we ever had. Atmosphere of the restaurant is a bit depressing: dark and old decoration. Food is expensive for the quality you get! You can do better elsewhere!
