This is a fantastic place to come for a drink and some snacks and enjoy the last few days of beautiful weather with an amazing view.
Located just outside the Rundle Lounge, on the patio of the Banff Springs Hotel, you get an unobstructed view of Tunnel and Rundle Mountain with Bow Falls, Bow River and the golf course below. On a clear summer day, you just can't beat the view and the setting, for some drinks and snacks.
The margaritas are fantastic - I enjoyed both the El Classico and the Pineapple one. We shared the guacamole dip with tortilla chips as well as the taco selections. Everything tasted house made and fresh. Would definitely return - it's a great place for drinks and socializing.

The Lookout Patio at the Fairmont Banff Springs is a gorgeous place to enjoy some drinks & snacks. The view is unparalleled, with Tunnel and Rundle Mountains in the back and Bow Falls below.
We had drinks and dinner there last night, on a clear, warm summer evening. Our server, Lauren G, was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and attentive, without being intrusive. She made our meal really enjoyable. All the other staff we encountered were really friendly as well.
Happy Hour was from 7pm to sunset and we took advantage of that with bucket of Moosehead beer and quite a few margaritas - haha! We also shared the chips and guacamole and we each had the trio of tacos. The fish taco was my favourite with the pork coming in second. The shrimp taco had a bit too much blackened seasoning for my liking but it was tasty. We shared the Tres Leches cake - it was divine!!
Tables were physically distanced and all the servers wore masks. It was outside also, so we felt safe.
I would highly recommend this restaurant for spectacular views, great service and good food!

The lookout patio at the Banff springs has a Mexican theme. The chips with guacamole are fantastic. The guacamole is made fresh and delicious. We also had the cod, pull pork, Chicken and blacken shrimp tacos. My favourite was the cod. The patio did not has umbrellas as it was extremely hot when we were there for lunch.

The view was stunning but that’s a given - it’s the Rockie Mountains. I ordered that fish tacos and the single taco I received because of a misunderstanding with order was so under stated. It was a single piece of battered cod on a small tortilla shell. No pizzazz, no condiments, no tortilla chips, nothing to enhance the flavour. It was like the chef completely forgot to finish this dish! However the beer was cold, the company of friends was great and their Tinga Chicken was a hood healthy portion and the flavorful homemade tortilla chips were delicious.

On our first day in Banff, we walked down from Rundle Mt. and went to the patio. We were early for lunch so we got a prime table on the balcony. The weather and views were wonderful. Had Banh Mi buns, Tomato salad and white fish rillettes. All were good. With a couple of drinks and tip we spent $88.15 (CAN)

Amazing views! Amazing service! Not much else to say. this is definitely place you will want to go to spend some time away from the heat, to sit and relax alone or with friends and family. Make sure to get a drink and sit and savor both the taste and the view!

Had high expectations for a more formal unique menu and atmosphere. Instead was disappointed in Mexican theme with boring menu and poor tasting cocktails. Was not impressed in over hearing staff meeting. The patio had no options for shade on an extremely hot day.

There are mixed reviews on this lovely patio with jaw dropping views. Our experience was a positive one, both times. When my husband and I arrived at the hotel we were tired from our long travel and the outdoor patio was a welcome retreat, along with a cold beer and glass of wine. We only had an appetizer since we had dinner reservations later that evening. The queso with chorizo was very good. The salty lime chips were warm and crisp. Our server was attentive and friendly.
So, later in the week we returned one afternoon. They offered sombreros for guests for relief from the hot sun. Fun! They were very busy but our server was again attentive and friendly. We each had the little tacos (carnitas and cauliflower) and chips and salsa. All were very good. We ordered margaritas (I wasn’t impressed) and the server gladly took it back and replaced it with a beer.
Of course the view would be rated 5 stars . . . AMAZING!

This patio is one of our favorite places for a summer lunch in Banff! Not only is the view spectacular, but the service has been great over the last couple years and the Mexican themed menu is delicious! I enjoyed a beautiful hibiscus margarita, fish tacos and a share of the charred brussel sprouts. Looking forward to the patio on out next visit!

Stunning views and really nice staff, but the food is really not good value. Have the tortilla chips and a drink then go and eat in town. The fish taco is great, but the pork and chicken both dry and salty. 3 small tacos for $25. the kicker was the ice creams, which are prepackaged cups like you get at the movies, with a plastic scoop in the lid, for $7! It cost nearly $180 for my family of 4 to have a small poor quality meal.

We went to have lunch around noon and the patio was about eighty percent occupied.
Service was efficient and we noted the tables turned over quickly. The menu is very limited with tacos, tortas, a few appetizers and desserts. The cocktails were primarily margueritas as you would expect with a Mexican heme.
The servers seemed a bit confused bringing the wrong orders to tables quite frequently. It would be nice if they put salt shakers on he tables instead of having to flag down a busy server.
The food was fairly good with the exception of our churros which we returned as they were so crispy you could snap them like a potato chip. It seemed they had been rewarmed in the deep fryer once too often.
The main reason for going here us to enjoy a wonderful view of the valley.and mountains.

This is so odd that for such a beautiful property the service here is always poor. Dirty tables, staff that don’t seem to care, not busy, take your order and bring your food. As long as your expectations are low, you should enjoy it, there is an amazing view.
