Fantastic meals and service here at The Post Hotel Dining Room. Our latest foray here involved a rather magical man; Yves. Yves was so much fun; so friendly, knowledgable and accommodating. For my second course, when ordering, I asked for the specific item and he responded "Of course Sir, it is already written down. See? this is what I would have chosen after your first course!" and he showed me his menu pad where he had indeed already written it down. Amazing! Magic! Fun! Voodoo maybe? Doesn't matter: enjoy these moments here!
My wife, being a petite person and small eater asked Yves to change a few things and he jumped at the chance and adjusted her portions accordingly (except the chocolate truffle cake; he knew better on dessert!). He assured her that Trevor (I believe he said that name) the chef would gladly accommodate. No changes from the offered menu were asked for; just a re-arranging of a couple of things and portioning and it was absolutely perfect.
Everyone here is wonderful, from those topping up water to the sommelier, to the wait staff, all the way up to the owners who stop by every night to check on everything.
Even the Maitre D' stopped by to check on us!
Thank you so much everyone at the Post Hotel Dining Room!
Be sure to indulge! you will not regret it and dive deep into the wine menu! It is wonderful.

Very nice place, well maintained and the service is exceptional. That said, this is a very pricey place to stay at and to eat at so make sure you take that into consideration. We only stayed for one night, which unless you like to ski or do other winter sports, is more than enough as there isn’t a lot to do in Lake Louise. It is beautiful for sure, but there is no downtown to walk around in, just the Chateau Lake Louise, and that doesn’t take a long time to do.

We visited the post inn restaurant for the four course sample menu. It was exquisite. The food was out of this world. I have eaten in restaurants all around the world and this was one of the best. Everything was cooked perfectly. Despite being a sample menu I struggled to finish all 4 courses as they did not hold back on the portion sizes. Whilst some may feel it is on the higher price bracket, there was great value for money for the quality of the food and portions provided. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Lake Louise or it’s surrounding areas. The service was also outstanding.

We spent Christmas eve in the Post Hotel, and this hotel was beautfifully decorated! It could not have been more Christmassy, with multiple trees, a mesmerizing ceiling full with little lights and live piano music. A 10/10 for effort creating a Christmas vibe!
Dinner was expensive, with the quality of the food not all that. 56 CAD for a tuna with only a little garnish. Expensive wine list, more a wine book. Our 70 CAD wine was one of the cheaper ones, but we got help from the sommelier and we got a perfect tasting wine for it. Desert was a picture, very good. Loved spending Christmas eve there!

This restaurant is worth the trip up the Icefield Parkway, especially if you are visiting Lake Louise. It's just off the highway, and part of the Post Hotel. I can't speak about the hotel, but the restaurant is perfectly designed for that Northern Canada feel. We dined there in early October, before any snow.
We had tried to get a reservation in advance of our trip, but at that time it wasn't available, supposedly catering to just their hotel guests. Maybe we just lucked out that when we checked again, they were able to take us. Our hotel concierge at RimRock Resort deserves all the credit for that.
We knew it was highly regarded by culinary experts and it certainly lived up to that level during our seating. I know some may describe this dining room and service as "old school" and "stuffy". I interpret those descriptions as a positive. I prefer "classic" and "formal".
We arrived for an early dinner, so there were quite a few of open tables. Also, it was just a few days before the fall season was ending. Our server was quite professional and helpful with entree descriptions and selections. We also had great help with wine selections.
We started with the cream of tomato soup, a quite colorful "summer salad" for me and a Butter Leaf Salad and Alberta RainbowTrout Fillet. Each item was artfully presented and delicious. Our main entrees were Emince of Beef Stroganoff w/ plate dressed with cauliflower and egg tagliatelle and Halibut Fillet. We finished with desserts: a Tropical Pavlova sorbet and a Hazelnut Chocolate Bar. Both were "to die for".
For wine lovers, we enjoyed a bottle of Ramey Russian River Valley Chardonnay and a Courtney Benham N.V. Cabernet v. 2018.
We had a wonderful dinner experience. It was our best dining experience along with another hotel dinner on our last night at our own hotel.

We were staying at the Post Hotel and had dinner here. First complaint is that when we made our rez (for 4 people), we were not told that the ONLY dining option was the 4-course fixed price menu. But, after looking at the menu, we decided to stay. We were seated promptly for our 8:00PM reservation. But it was downhill from there. We waited a full 10 minutes before someone came to take our drink order and then it was another [about] 7 minutes before the drinks were served. Which meant we were sitting there for a full 17 minutes with no water, no bread, no drinks...nothing. In fact, when the server came to take our drink order, she brought out a plate of some kind of fancy butter. We specifically asked if bread would be brought. But nothing. Even when they brought the drinks and we AGAIN asked for some bread, it took quite a while to be brought over. This is inexcusable.
Had the restaurant been full, it may have been somewhat understandable. But there were only a few full tables. Our server knew everything on the menu but seemed more intent on impressing us with her knowledge of the dishes than what we were actually interested in.
To be clear, the menu choices and the food was absolutely delicious. But considering it was a relatively limited menu (5 or 6 choices each for the appetizer, first and second courses) it should not have taken as long as it did. We sat down at 8:00PM and did not finish with dessert until just after 10:00PM!!! BTW - it wasn't as if we could ask for faster service since it seemed
Bottom line: Food was delicious but overshadowed by the ridiculously slow service. For the prices we paid (at the hotel and for the meal) we expected much better. Very disappointing.

The Dining Room at the Post Hotel has consistently been one of the top restaurants in the province. We dined here twice over a ski trip in January 2022 and our experiences reinforced this belief. Service here is exceptional, the staff is knowledgeable, passionate, and friendly while maintaining a respectful distance. Our first meal was the fondue experience, which was an lovely dining experience. Our recommendation would be to come hungry, as the fondue was quite substantial. Our second meal was the tasting menu, we staggered our options to taste as much as possible but still wished we were able to taste more. The most memorable bites were the sea bass with a citrus risotto and the pear tarte tatin. The sommelier provided some expert advice on pairings, and with a wine list so substantial that advice was definitely needed. If you are in the mountains and are looking for a fine dining option do yourself a favour and visit the Post hotel, it is worth the visit.

Let me start by saying that almost everything in this neck of the woods is very expensive. That's all I'll say about that.
I had the fixed price four course menu and my wife was able to order a la carte because we were guests at the hotel.
The Post Hotel Dining Room was an overall excellent dining "experience." My praise has to begin with our waiter- Sylvan. He was a consummate professional who was dignified without being the least bit stuffy. We had genuine and enjoyable conversations with him and never felt rushed. The wine steward (whose name I can't recall) was also very friendly and helped us choose a good bottle of wine based on our tastes and budget.
The dining room itself was quite nice and the food was fresh, beautifully cooked and well presented. In fact, the Alberta beef tenderloin that was my main course was one of the best I have ever had. I also had the Atlantic Lobster roll and the pan seared halibut- both were delicious. My wife enjoyed her Fogo Island cod very much, though she wasn't a huge fan of the cherry blossom Sabayon.
I have no qualms about rating our overall experience as 5 star and it was the best meal we had on our Canadian Rockies vacation.

We ate here with another couple, and had a very mixed experience.
Pros:
- Beautiful setting
- Food quality and presentation was good, although octopus was rubbery and tasted a little "off"
Cons:
- My wife is vegan. We checked twice in advance about menu accomodations and were told "absolutely no problem." We had a number of snafus, including her getting a few gluten-free trail crackers and nothing else for a bread course, being told a risotto course couldn't be changed (and then later hearing a different server at the next table talk about the ways it could be modified), and receiving a very small pasta course and lukewarm cauliflower steak. We were charged $160 for her meal (same as "regular" prixe fixe), which was excessive by probably a factor of two.
- We learned after our meal that there was an a la carte option for hotel guests, which was never offered to us although we stayed at the hotel.
- Service was friendly, but uneven. We didn't receive bread until 20-25 minutes after we were seated, and after an hour had completed only the first course. Meanwhile, a single diner at the table next to ours had completed his entire meal.
- Seating times: when we made our reservation a month ahead of time we were told that they had seatings at 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm, but saw people coming in and being seated at 6:00/6:15 pm.
We are experienced with fine dining and paying for great food and service. We left the Dining Room feeling underwhelmed and somewhat angry.

We were not guests at the hotel but made reservations for the main dining room on open table. The hostess was rude and seated us in a separate room and insisted our reservations were at the fondue restaurant, which was not as nice as main dining room. We challenged her and threatened to leave unless she seated us where we had reservations. Luckily she did. Would not recommend. Food was overrated and most of the wait staff was pretentious!

I would like to give this a 5/5, however, my hold up with that is the transparency of the available menu. I had read a TA posting while researching Banff NP that this would be a go to for a spectacular meal and that a reservation would likely be needed in advance. After checking the website out (not thoroughly enough I guess), it looked quaint and cozy for sure. I thought I made a reservation in the lounge with a more conservative price point. When I received my confirmation text for the dining room, I called to confirm. I was told the lounge does not take reservations and did not serve dinner, only the dining room. Since staying in the Village of Lake Louise, and limited on any other options at that time of day, I kept the reservation. Unbeknownst to us, we were only able to order from the pre priced four course menu for $149 per person. After the day we had, the miles hiked and the thought of driving to Banff proper for a meal, we stayed- only to split the meal between the two of us. Although I consider myself a foodie, and THOROUGHLY appreciated the fine food here, I cannot justify such a price for a meal. I am not sure how I missed this detail in my research, but clearly I did. I am not sure I could eat here again at this price- even if I won the lottery. Definitely out of my league.

We went on the night of Aug 10 , 2023.i ordered the food cod . It was terrible , rubbery texture ,fishy smell . I knew this wasn't fresh fish although the manager tried to tell me it came in fresh from city fish . Overall service was very slow . For desert I ordered the rhubarb ginger cake . It was ridiculously small for $25.00 I would say my piece was 3.5 inches long by .75 inches wide by .75 inches high , joke .I sent it back . Butter leaf salad was a couple of pieces of butter lettuce with a milk like thin dressing , terrible . $24.00 for this . The portions at this restaurant are very small and poor value for the prices they are charging , for 2 people it's like $300.00 cdn plus ,,don't waste your money .I would not go back

We had a delicious and memorable dinner here. There were several wonderful choices for each of the four courses, ranging from game and beef to seafood. All the dishes were innovative, subtle and beautifully presented. The service was knowledgeable and very professional while still relaxed and friendly. The dining room is beautiful, with warm wood, truly lovely flower arrangements, intimate lighting and soft acoustics. Even the linens and silverware are pleasing. And the wine list is extraordinary. The whole experience is very fairly priced given the excellent food quality, fine service and attention to detail.

The dining room atmosphere was very nice and the service was very good also. The food was very good, not excellent, very good but the prices for the food were ridiculous. $30 for one medium size scallop, $24 for a small salad with emphasis on small (a few bites) and then they charged $140 for elk tenderloin which ended up being a mistake on the bill. They had to correct the bill but it did not change much. I travel frequently throughout Canada and the world and dine at very expensive restaurants and am more than willing to pay more money for good food but this was outright ridiculous. A very nice place, good service but definitely not worth the money and came up short! Over charging for tine portions and then making a mistake on the check by several hundred dollars is not acceptable.

Delicious meal! In a land of seemingly boundless mediocrity (when it comes to food), this dinner was a refreshing and gratifying change of pace. We were not staying at the Post Hotel, so we were limited to the four course Prix Fixe (we were told that only guests could order a la carte): cold and hot appetizers, a main course, and dessert. We were a group of four and all loved the choices we made. The cocktail and wine list was satisfying, beautiful plating, and our server was wonderfully charming. The meal was not cheap, but we’ve found that other meals in the area are also not cheap, so we figured we may as well add value to the $$ we’re already spending. The meal was well worth it.
