My wife and I stopped here, on a chilly evening, during our first time in Calgary. The food and the atmosphere were excellent -- my meal included lentil soup and Shepherd's" pie -- expect big servings! The table service seemed a bit slow, but our...server was very professional and pleasant.More

We enjoyed a shared lunch of a club sandwich with fries and a glass or two of wine. Food quality good and tasty. Service excellent. Overall a good lunch at reasonable prices.

Didn’t know anything. All the ipa beer was off. Waitress had to tell him what to do. Couldn’t Pitt white wine. Couldn’t put Guinness. Waited 10 minutes to be served and clearly no training given to the guy who was a really nice guy. Train...your staff!More

Our hotel caught on fire and the staff were wonderful! They let us take over a corner of thier patio, they even stayed open later! The service was awesome, they let us charge our devices so we could contact our famlies and friends. The bartender...made very good cocktails....More

Proper Irish-style pub where you can get a perfect pour of Guinness and a friendly greeting. I asked the waitress if the fish and chips were good, and she replied that many people order them. I ordered them. They were not good, but I had...another perfect pour of Guinness.More

Great pub, pretty authentic for Canada. Lots of little rooms off the main bar area and it's nicely decorated. The building is quite impressive and dates to around 1910. The Belfast breakfast is pretty decent but it would be nice to see a more traditional...'Full Irish/British' breakfast served (beans, mushrooms, black-pudding etc). I heard plenty of Irish/British accents in the pub on my few visits there. Beer selection was decent enough but maybe a couple more IPA's would be good. Staff are very attentive and pleasant. This place is well worth a visit if you like pubs. It certainly beats the numerous plastic pubs in Calgary.More

We stopped for dinner here in September. The food was quite tasty, but the pub was quite empty therefore we did not enjoy the Irish pub atmosphere we were looking for. Service is okish, price in the average.

We really enjoyed our evening at James Joyce in downtown Calgary. Our waiter was very friendly and was happy to provide us with recommendations. Firstly there is a great range of drinks to chose from, especially regarding beers. Secondly, there is a good choice of...food. Between us we had deep fried Brie, bangers and mash, and Shepherds Pie. We all enjoyed our food. Overall there is a lot of choice, good quality, great service and good value.More

Having been to a number of pubs in Ireland, the owners have acquitted themselves famously in terms of authenticity (the only thing missing was a peat fire). The food was delicious and the service was top notch. Many thanks to Melissa, our server, who made...our final dinner in Calgary quite memorable. Cheers!More

James Joyce has more than one location and Tripadvisor was not letting me choose the Mission location. We went here on a Saturday afternoon to enjoy some beer, food and watch the Blue Jays baseball game. We were greeting by Kaley and Hayley (I hope...I spelled their names correctly) and got a great table with direct views of the large TV with the game on it. The place was not overly noisy and had a great atmosphere reminiscent of the Irish pubs I knew on my trips to Ireland. The Guiness was fresh and good and the classic pub fare, including the Irish classics were all there. I had a pot pie and it was a great rendition of Shepherds pie and was filling and delicious. Classic Nachos were generously covered by the usual ingredients and very satisfying. And the servers were attentive, friendly and made us feel welcome and at home. Really enjoyed our visit.More

As there were so many choices for eating and drinking along the Main Street we spotted a free table in this one and sat down after being ushered to it by a nice young lady.We were not aware it was an Irish pub until we...had the menu but it was a bit off a give away after spotting a few lads in green and orange at the bar. Looking through the drinks menu I spotted a welcome lager,Carlsberg,so in I went for it and my partner had a rum/coke and we both ate, very reasonable prices, nice venue and we sat there people spotting for a few beers. A very enjoyable time was had and the staff were very friendly and efficient with all the people they were servingMore

Great place right in the middle of the pedestrian way on 8th. Top of the line beers and liquor. Attentive and personable staff and great pub food. Jimmy, Noah and James will take good care of you at the bar.
