I was a walk-in at this restaurant just prior to the dinner rush. Hostess was very cheerful and greeted me within 20 seconds! I put in an order for a takeout - one of the house favourites: The Satisfaction Plate! A combination of a few...different dishes to give you a taste of various items. As it was not busy yet, my order was up in approximately 10 mins. The creole shrimp had just the right amount of spice on it. And there were a few of them too - not just one token shrimp on top for show. Good sized shrimp also. The beans and sausage were pretty par for the course, good tasting, but nothing special. I also had a side of cornbread to go with the main dish. Nice and warm - as if it was fresh right out of the oven. Parking is available for free right in front of the restaurant. This is not a budget place for food, but neither is it in the top price range. Definitely a favourite of mine.More

We had a great dinner and appreciated the great service we received by the server who was working the floor by herself. We had some great appetizers and then enjoyed our main courses. The food was hot and delicious and the portions were reasonable for...the price.More

Most people associate this restaurant with delicious creole dishes, as I always have (and still do). Deciding to go in a different direction, I ordered the Mac & Cheese along with a side of Sweet Potato Fries. The Mac & Cheese was served in a...rich creamy sauce mixed in with bits of sausage. It was the best I have had in a long time anywhere else. The fries where thick cut and coated with a slight bit of spice. Two different dipping sauces really complimented the fries (I love and finished off the hot sauce). The dishes are still a bit on the pricey side, but worth it to treat yourself once in a while. Next time you visit, I'd suggest straying from your usual picks to give some of the more 'traditional' menu choices a try. It won't disappoint.More

I have been telling people about this place as much as I can since visiting last September! I had the Salmon-Shrimp-Crawfish Boudin and it was probably the most delicious think I have ever tasted! We ordered the bread pudding for dessert but were too full...to eat it there so took it to-go and had it for breakfast the next morning! The service was excellent and the ambiance was perfect. I can't find a single complaint with this place except that it's in Edmonton and I'm from Vancouver. Wish we had one of these restaurants in Vancouver!!More

The atmosphere and bustling good vibes hasn't changed since my last review 2 years ago. For peak periods - I definitely suggest reservations. Close to downtown, this restaurant serves up some delicious creole food. The "Satisfaction Place" is still a favourite of mine as it...gives you a taste of 3 dishes in one. I also tried the Crispy Crab Cakes this time. A nice touch of spices coating the outside of some wonderful crab inside. Prices are tending just at top of what I'd call moderate - average entree being around $26. Waitress I dealt with was friendly and the food was ready in fairly quick order. There is parking available. You can do take-out orders if no seating is available (or try their other location)More

I have reviewed Louisiana Purchase on numerous occasions and, despite changes over the years, it continues to offer fine food, good service and a pleasant experience, but for one thing. Twelve dollars for dessert is outrageous. The bread pudding, for example, is as good as...ever, but the portion is smaller and the cost is without justification.More

The title of my review is not a compliment, by the way, to a restaurant where the Jambalaya came out from the kitchen within 5 minutes! It was tasty enough, but for $21.00 a plate, I expect it to be freshly prepared. Having a vat...of it ready in the kitchen is what we expect from a fast food outlet. There were two toppings one could request (creole or tomato-based), so I had some of each. The creole was fine but the tomato-based was half cold, half hot. The manager said it was meant to be a cold topping, so I do not understand why there was such a temperature disparity. I would recommend both toppings, by the way, but I would ask for the tomato topping to be fully hot (it tasted better that way). I was in New Orleans in April, attending a conference. I think the management would do well to spend a few days there to learn about Louisiana cooking.More

My girlfriend blessed me with a birthday dinner here and I was so impressed with the service (Thank you so much Lauren!), food/wine, and overall ambiance. We were there from 4:30 to 9:30 and were looked after to the 10s. The bar with it's red...leather seats and chandeliers to the patio top deck, we enjoyed it all. The owner spoke with us twice and upon leaving we vowed we would be back. Tremendous place! They even brought me a birthday beinet alligator complete with sparkler. Loved it!!! Wine is half price on Thursdays too.More

I’ve had alligator all over the southern US and this was amazing! The gumbo was also very tasty. Will definitely be back and it’s location close to the arena makes it a must try before a game or concert.

I had the opportunity to visit the Louisiana Purchase I had the sampler meal which consisted of jambalaya. beans and what seemed to be just tomato paste The jambalaya was actually quite tasty and the beans were nice and spicy as for the tomato sauce...pointless. Even though the food was good I found the overall price on the high side and very few other customers they also had a mandatory tip. Which they did not advise us of. Make sure you check your bills. Shame on restaurants charging this for customers bringing them more business while doing little to nothing to improve the food or the service.More

Ordered the combo jambalaya. Large portion but not much flavor. Sausages were more like large smokies/hot dogs. Price comparable to other restaurants, atmosphere ok. Good selection of appetizers and a decent lounge side. Chicken and waffles were average. They seem to focus more on portion...size than on taste. The Mac and cheese had no flavor and very over cooked.More

If you like Gumbo, Crab Cakes and Jambalaya, then you will love this restaurant. The service is great, the food is great; what more do you want? And there is lots of free parking (at least at the downtown location).

Celebrated a co-worker’s retirement over lunch at Louisiana Purchase. The décor matched the cuisine with just the right amount of ambiance. Our server was friendly and extremely helpful since we had a million questions about the menu. Lots of variety on the menu including mild...and non-spicy options. Food was served timely, very flavourful, presentation was beautiful and portions were larger than expected for lunch service, We all had a fantastic time!More

Food was very good and the service was great. They provided a parking pass so we could leave the car in their lot while we attended the Oiler game. Only a fifteen minute walk to Rogers Place.
