This place has a charm to it. It is a restaurant that feels like it is someone's home. My wife ordered a pasta that was tossed in a cheese wheel after the wheel was lit on fire to melt the cheese on the pasta. The wine list is extensive and we were happy with the red we chose.

I brought two friends with me who had never been at Violino.Front of house is very kind and helpful.Everything was better than perfect. We shared the lobster dip and arancini as appetizers. Highly recommend both. The best Wild Salmon I have ever tasted. My friend ordered the lamb for herself and she said it was the best lamb she ever had, perfection. We shared dessert Tiramisu, best Italian Tiramisu flavor.Service was impeccable , timely, friendly, and well versed in everything on the menu as well as the history of the restaurant. Outstanding. The Sommelier/Wine Steward is really really great. Our wine was exceptional .Love it!

We were in Edmonton for the Metallica concert weekend and wanted to have a nice dinner out between shows. Came across Violino, and it looked like it could be the place.
Made a late evening reservation for Saturday and was immediately impressed by the beautiful home and the friendly staff.
We were seated upstairs and were greeted by David, our server. He was super cool to chat with and great with our questions about the menu. We asked for recommendations about wine and the entrees and everything was spot on.
Calamari was crispy and delicious, the shredded pepperoncini was a nice touch.
The Chicken Fettuccine was flambéd in an Asiago cheese wheel table side and was amazing to watch. Finally, the Veal Parmigiana was served bone in, breaded with delicious marinara sauce and cheese with an assortment of vegetables and baby potatoes.

Let me start off by saying that it was a pre-set menu (not very good for picky eaters). Limited and only choices were for appetizer and entree. We primarily came for pasta. It was $99/person, 4 dishes (so $25 per dish). I got the Crab and shrimp brisk. So gross. Base tasted like cambell’s mushroom soup. It was super salty and fishy. Not even worth 5 dollars. Next up, ravioli. No taste. Could have used the salt from the soup. The sauce was a white creamy sauce, also zero taste. Then I picked a eggplant parmasan with a side of oily pesto pasta. It was meh. Olive Garden quality. Finished with tiramasu. Got our bill. $300- for a top 3 worse meals I have ever eaten. This included a few drinks and an included gratitude of $42 (18%). The “table clothes” were straight up white paper and the plates felt plastic with varying designs on them like they were bought at the dollar store. I am sorry but if I am dropping $300 ($150/ person) I better be seeing some crisp white table clothes and some nice plates. Furthermore, we waited 20min between our ravioli and entree. Service was average. Had better at other places. I for sure will not be returning. We were asked to provide them with our credit card when we reserved even though they said they wouldn’t charge us if we cancel. There is no reason for taking our credit card, so we refused to provide it. We eat out a lot as a couple (on average 2-4 times per week) and the price does not match the food quality of this place at all. I had very high expectations and was highly disappointed. Could have probably made a better dinner at home for $50.

The appy of calamari was delicious, even the greens with the vinaigrette 8/10. The osso bucco is served with a very heavy red wine reduction/gravy which was way too rich. The meat however was very nicely cooked. 7/10 I wanted pasta instead of potato with my veal parm and was advised it would cost me an extra $14 to change from potato to a pasta! For $46 for veal parm give me the pasta and suck up the $14. The veal parm was pounded way way too thin and was crispy around the edges and barely had any meat compared to bread crumb. Veggies not bad, potatoes sad. But the sauce and cheese were good. 5/10 Tiramisu was average, rather bland. Small piece for $12. For that price please add some mascarpone, and real expresso to the lady fingers. 5/10 We ran out of wine before we finished dinner and coffee before we even got our dessert. Service was very slow and spotty. Noticed another couple waited forever to have their empty plates removed even though the server walked by them a few times without picking them up. Overall 6/10

Our waitress was a saint. Her name is either Joanne or Joanna. She dealt with some really demanding and rude people. And yes they were part of my party. There were 12 of us and so due to Covid we were at two tables. People asked for the menu to be changed because they are picky, they ordered appetizers after they saw what looked good from what others got. They complained about the food. Asked for something not on the menu. Our server took it all in stride. So A+ for service.
The food was good but not as good as I had on a previous visit. The potato pave was dry , and the tiramisu was good but not great. What was great was the asparagus soup, the beef, and the special( surf and turf). Overall a good evening.

Birthday dinner. Service was really quite bad. Never asked us if we wanted a drink had to ask for water. Had to wait for there server to come over a lot. Our starters were delivered and then he asked us to order our mains which was very odd to say the least we was given the menu to look so he could place the order. Like let us eat our appetizers first then come right back. None too pleased. Didn’t eat the main course. Too overpowering sauces pollo penne. He just boxed it up. I left the restaurant without eating dinner and a 250 bill. Won’t be coming back over priced and the servers need better training.

I’ve come at least 5 times, and it is hands down my favourite restaurant ever. The staff are welcoming, caring, and constantly going above and beyond. All the food is made fresh, and comes out delicious. Highly recommend and will always continue to support this place.

The food was delicious and wait staff and very accommodating. The venue is really cool, it’s an old house converted to a restaurant :) only thing that I was kind of put off about was it did take a long time in between drinks and meal and dessert. So dinner was about 2.5 hours long. I think I’m so used to having the drinks ordered than the meal then dessert kind of fast paced that it felt like a really long time but that being said I really didn’t make me enjoy the experience more and actually digest my food so there might be some science behind it that they make you wait longer . But yeah I highly recommend the food was super awesome and the drinks for really good and the dessert was great.

Went for an anniversary. Even though we arrived late for our reservation, the staff were nothing but friendly. We had their ravioli and the penne pollo, both we’re delicious. The waitress even surprised us with a dessert. I would recommend this place to anyone, it’s fancy all while feeling very homey.

Beautiful, boutique restaurant,
with Italian flair. Food was very tasty and they have great choices, services very good. On our first visit ,we were impressed, and we'll be back for sure. Probably the most beautiful patio in town very quiet and clean.

A fabulous, intimate venue. Food and service was amazing! Highly recommend. The upstairs room is just right for a private function. There was even enough room for the ceremony to be held and a little dance space. It’s an Edmonton gem.

Long wait but tasty food with table side fettuccine.
The crab fritters were crunchy on the outside and delicate and full of flavour on the inside. The basil aïoli was also a very obvious winner as that little touch of arugula in the garnish really hit the spot.
Had the squash ravioli which wasn’t super flavourful but very well cooked with a sauce that more than made up for it. The sambuca prawns were succulent and so very tasty.
2 bottles of wine between 5 of us.
