My wife had spaghetti Bolognese and I had the halibut. Absolutely fantastic! It was our 25th anniversary and we were surprised at the end of the meal by a wonderful piece of bread pudding. Very nice restaurant experience.
Let me start off by saying that it was a pre-set menu (not very good for picky eaters). Limited and only choices were for appetizer and entree. We primarily came for pasta. It was $99/person, 4 dishes (so $25 per dish). I got the Crab...and shrimp brisk. So gross. Base tasted like cambell’s mushroom soup. It was super salty and fishy. Not even worth 5 dollars. Next up, ravioli. No taste. Could have used the salt from the soup. The sauce was a white creamy sauce, also zero taste. Then I picked a eggplant parmasan with a side of oily pesto pasta. It was meh. Olive Garden quality. Finished with tiramasu. Got our bill. $300- for a top 3 worse meals I have ever eaten. This included a few drinks and an included gratitude of $42 (18%). The “table clothes” were straight up white paper and the plates felt plastic with varying designs on them like they were bought at the dollar store. I am sorry but if I am dropping $300 ($150/ person) I better be seeing some crisp white table clothes and some nice plates. Furthermore, we waited 20min between our ravioli and entree. Service was average. Had better at other places. I for sure will not be returning. We were asked to provide them with our credit card when we reserved even though they said they wouldn’t charge us if we cancel. There is no reason for taking our credit card, so we refused to provide it. We eat out a lot as a couple (on average 2-4 times per week) and the price does not match the food quality of this place at all. I had very high expectations and was highly disappointed. Could have probably made a better dinner at home for $50.More
Our waitress was a saint. Her name is either Joanne or Joanna. She dealt with some really demanding and rude people. And yes they were part of my party. There were 12 of us and so due to Covid we were at two tables. People...asked for the menu to be changed because they are picky, they ordered appetizers after they saw what looked good from what others got. They complained about the food. Asked for something not on the menu. Our server took it all in stride. So A+ for service.
The food was good but not as good as I had on a previous visit. The potato pave was dry , and the tiramisu was good but not great. What was great was the asparagus soup, the beef, and the special( surf and turf). Overall a good evening.More
We really liked the charm! We had a table out on the deck on a wonderful, warm, evening. Service was friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. We each tried one of the specials for the day and we were not disappointed. Finished off with...very tasty desserts, cappuccino and a nice ice wine. The extra dessert, with a sparkler and Happy Anniversary on the plate tells you about the charm and character of the wonderful people who run Violino. On future trips to Edmonton we will definitely fit in more dinners here.More
This place has a charm to it. It is a restaurant that feels like it is someone's home. My wife ordered a pasta that was tossed in a cheese wheel after the wheel was lit on fire to melt the cheese on the pasta. The...wine list is extensive and we were happy with the red we chose.More
Went for an anniversary. Even though we arrived late for our reservation, the staff were nothing but friendly. We had their ravioli and the penne pollo, both we’re delicious. The waitress even surprised us with a dessert. I would recommend this place to anyone, it’s...fancy all while feeling very homey.More
A fabulous, intimate venue. Food and service was amazing! Highly recommend. The upstairs room is just right for a private function. There was even enough room for the ceremony to be held and a little dance space. It’s an Edmonton gem.
Had a great table for 4 on the main floor, very comfortable. Our waitress was very busy that evening and yet very attentive; quick to top up the wine, remove dishes and she also noticed that I did not eat the beets from my beet...and goat cheese salad. She asked why I had not and I told her that the beets were ice cold and had a strange texture. She said she would mention it to the kitchen and would not charge us for it.
The 4 of us tried a variety of dishes from the menu including lobster bisque, 3 different pasta dishes and the steak.Everything was delicious, menu items were nicely priced but the wine list started at about $50 per bottle. Very glad we came to celebrate the Christmas season!More
