Great service awesome food

Terra’s extremely helpful bartenders Jonathan, from Australia and Connor, from Yorkshire are very familiar with the activities in the area. The food at Terra is delicious, Canadian sourced, creatively put together and the tastiest we’ve had in a long time. Price point is very good and if the same food was served in Calgary, price would be doubled at least. Our server Paige, was very friendly and made us feel comfortable, answering any questions about the menu. Overall a wonderful experience with amazing food and service.

Fantastic food and perfect service

On our last day in Jasper my friend and I decided to try out Terra. My God was I blow away. We decided to order the bone marrow and Cab beef petite tender. The bone marrow arrived first and was it ever spectacular. Both the marrow and the chantrelle that it is served with were cooked to perfect. We were even able to taste the subtle fruity notes of the Chantelle's which are so commonly washed away buy strong sauces. The beef was then served. Being used to ordering beef cooked in different ways we were surprised that there was no rarity scale. However once the food arrived we completely forgot about it. It was cooked beautifully and so were the oyster mushrooms. Allowing the flavours to complement each other, neither one being to overbearing. I would highly recommend coming here as we tried many other restaurants in Jasper some even more expensive. However none can hold a candle to Terra. Thank you to Vince our server for being so happy to help.

We enjoyed an unexpectedly amazing meal

While we were in Jasper for only one evening (getting ready to board the Rocky Mountaineer) we enjoyed a top quality meal at Terra. We splurged on the bison tomahawk ribeye and were most impressed. The attention to detail and quality ingredients blended seamlessly to produce a world class dining experience.

We were staying at the hotel, so checked the night before regarding breakfast and were advised it opened at 07:00. The next day, we arrived at 07:00 to be greeted and asked if we would like breakfast - we asked to view the menu and were informed the menu does not start until 09:30 and they only offer a buffet until then. We asked what the buffet was to be told "I don't work in the kitchen, so I have no idea you will have to look for yourself" We looked and there were a couple of stale pastries, a few slices of bread, half a bowl of what looked like fruit salad and some scrambled eggs and this was all for $20!! We promptly left and found a great place around the corner! Shocking pricing, service and offering. We were due to have a meal in the evening, but we cancelled that and have booked elsewhere. We spoke to others on a tour who had similar experiences with poor service too. Would not recommend

Not all it was cracked up to be

We booked our reservation for 4 with the Terra after looking at many restaurants for a special dinner. We had all agreed the Tomahawk steak special for 2, being offered on their website, was the way to go. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our meal. When the salads (2 person serving) were delivered to the table, our server presented one salad with onions and one without. We had not asked for any exemptions to be made. We told him that and there was no offer to return the salads or even to bring some onion to remedy the situation. He did tell us he was very tired, though. With our salad, there was a very undercooked portion of squash, skin intact. We did not have sharp knives to attempt to cut the skin off or to even cut into bite size pieces. Ultimately, the squash was left on the plate Both couples ordered our steaks medium rare and our server told us that’s how chef preferred to cook the steaks. Sadly, when the steaks arrived, one steak was cooked just under medium rare and the other was just over. Disappointing to be sure and to add to our disappointment, the steaks were not presented as advertised. The special was a “Tomahawk Steak Special for 2”. The pictures on Terra’s website clearly show a Tomahawk steak with bone. The definition of a Tomahawk is “a ribeye beef steak specifically cut with a least five inches of rib bone left intact”. Our steaks were just a slab of under seasoned meat (NO bone), already cut and placed on the plate. In attempting to season our steaks, we had to remove the top of the salt shaker as the salt was too coarse to be able to shake it out. The portion size of both the salad and entrée were ample, however, the only bright spot of our less than stellar meal was the au jus that accompanied the meat and the potatoes, which were both very tasty. Based on the website this “Tomahawk” special was only being offered from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and we adjusted our original reservation to take advantage of said special. However, while we were there many other tables were ordering and receiving the “special” well after 7:00. Had we known we could have ordered any time; we would have retained our preferential time. Overall, we feel the advertising was misleading and added to our frustration. We can confidently say that the Terra restaurant is not a place we would go out of our way to revisit.

Highly recommend Terra

We'd just arrived in Jasper and took a walk along the street to find a place for dinner. Not wanting the usual fayre of burgers or pizza, we were so pleased to have found Terra. The decor and atmosphere was tasteful and welcoming. First up, we had a drink at the bar where we were served our cocktails by a delightful young English man from Brighton and we were then taken to our table where we had the pleasure of being served by Vince who was so very engaging and knowledgeable about the area. He answered all our questions and helped us chose dishes to share from the "small plates" section of the menu (although we could have chosen main courses, we wanted to try something different) such as fried green tomatoes, corn ribs with lime, candied salmon with quails eggs, bone marrow with mushrooms, shallots and sourdough. Every single dish was absolutely delicious and we were so full there was no room for dessert! If you're in Jasper and want something different that won't break the bank, then you can't go wrong with a visit to Terra. Highly recommend!

Great dinner spot

Excellent dinner or place in downtown Jasper to grab a drink with friends. My friend and I were here on June 27, for dinner and it was outstanding. Recommend the bread, bone marrow, although, there is not much as per typically bone marrow, so be prepared. Taste however was, delightful. Also, if you're in a "gamey" mood, I recommend the Bison Tomahawk. We ordered it rare and it came out pretty rare, with the delicious melted butter on top. The mushrooms that accompanied it were pretty tasteless, but the bison was good. Just go in with the mind set that it's "gamey." We skipped dessert, but enjoyed lovely drinks. I got the strawberry mule and my friend got the Sub-alpine lemonade cocktail. If you're dropping in, ask for Ryan! He's a great, attentive, and very informative server! There's free street parking as of when we went, but keep an eye out because I think street parking is changing soon.

Exotic vibes in a resort town

We were a big group of 14 adults no children Our table was set up on the patio and it was beautiful. Izzy was our server, we tried everything from their cocktails to their Appetizers to their mains everything was just brilliant . Must try their Tomahawk Inspite of being a big group our orders came on time Hanna the hostess, James the Manager, Will the Head chef all came and spoke to us to check if everything was good and it was not just good it was the best. again Izzy special thanks for accommodating us and taking care of us

Wonderful meal and service

We had a wonderful meal at Terra. We enjoyed everything we ate, there is a good selection of wines by the glass and the prices are extremely fair considering the quality of the food. The service was excellent - Vince was friendly and very professional. We hope that this new venue in Jasper will have the popularity it deserves.

We had the Maitake mushrooms, carrots, bone marrow, garlic beans, and whole trout for a hungry party of four. Very tasty, not too much food, nice and COVID-safe atmosphere on the patio. Excellent service by Paige.

Terra is Terrific! Quality locally sourced food and impeccable service!

We had a wonderful evening last week at Terra- one of Jasper’s newest restaurants. Seated by the windows we had a beautiful unobstructed view of the mountains and changing colours of the sky as evening set in. The decor and design of Terra is smart, sharp and modern. We started with cocktails and drinks before being presented with a beautiful chef vegetarian salad and shared a Canadian Angus Beef Tomahawk with Peppercorn Jus, corn ribs and chef potatoes. The Tomahawk steak that was succulent and cooked to perfection! Vince our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive! Thank you! We will be back!

Underwhelming

We found the ambience here rather unrestful. One has the feeling one is sitting in a hotel foyer, which one partly is. The cooking is competent but not exceptional. A mushroom parfait was too soft and served with a redundant pile of crisps (chips in the US). The best course was a lemon and blueberry ice cream. We didn't have the famous Steve serving us. Our waitress tried to put us off decaffeinated coffee by telling us it would take 15 minutes to brew. It id.

Menu items were elevated comfort food. We shared the corn ribs and brussel sprouts to start. The corn ribs were something I have never tried before but fell in love with and want to try and make on my own. So delicious. I had the beef cheeks with grits for my main and really enjoyed it as well. Wish there was maybe 1 or 2 more mains to choose from but as it was a smaller menu you could tell they put a lot of effort into what they serve.

Terra was an amazing experience. Not only the food was amazing, but the customer service experience was superb. Steve, our server was very friendly, helpful and informative about the menu and the different food options they offered. The atmosphere was out of this world, with the modern look and the airy feel, I would definitely recommend checking this place out, whether you’re staying at The Crimson or not, stopping by doesn’t hurt.

Nice interior and great food

We were attracted to this new restaurant by good reviews posted by other people. It didn’t disappoint us. We had the shard plate of Smoked Bison Tomahawk steak and it was real good. The crispy pork dish was also very good. We like the buttermilk mushroom a lot too. The interior of the restaurant is slick and modern, the big windows allowed us to enjoy the fresh air and nice Mountain View while we were enjoying our meal. The restaurant was short staffed at the time but Vince was very pleasant and was doing his best to serve us.
