Well loved by locals. good food in fair quantity 7 fair price. I forgot to pay once, and got chastised by the owner. He wanted pay up front from then on. I say that's rather unforgiving of a septegenarian. Still recommended, but I won't go.

We were lucky to get a table on the early side and learned quickly why it is so favored. Very satisfying veggie stir fry and curry prawns with excellent service. Our server was attentive, friendly and excelled at hospitality. The Small Portion option was perfect...for us.More
Was sorely disappointed in our lunch. I had 1 pc fish with the soup which was supposed to be cauliflower and cheese. It was more like celery and bland. The cheese part was a few shreds of cheese on top. 1 bite, couldn’t eat more...it was that bad. Hubby also thought the same. My coleslaw, while god, consisted of approximately 1 tablespoon. Seriously? A tablespoon of slaw on my plate? I could smell the fish on my plate when the gentleman that delivered our food was more than 6’ away., it was greasy and truly unappetizing. It came with a small container of tartar sauce…equal to about 1 teaspoon. We will not be going back, no value for food. 1 positive, our waitress was very professional and attentive.More
Looking for a friendly restaurant that was a halfway meeting point between Ladysmith and Duncan, Chemainus was the perfect spot, this family restaurant was recommended and did not disappoint. Busy spot we had to come back 1/2 later at lunch time to get a table....Nice ambiance, lots of people meeting for lunch and some just coffee and cake. Waitress was friendly and very efficient, in spite of having the lions share of the load of the clientele.More
My husband and I were attending the Chemanius theatre and needed a place close by to have some dinner. We had heard nice things about Bonnie Martin’s and thought we’d try it out. The service I was welcoming, friendly and efficient. All the food item...looked very good, but were very impressed with the wor won ton soup. It was excellent! The only reason I’m giving this four stars is because the ambiance of the restaurant could be improved. Other than that, I’d definitely return and have recommended it to many friends.More
A huge menu of great food! Comfort food, chinese menu as well! Great prices and a nice small town cafe atmosphere! The customer service is great! Food is awesome and fairly priced as well!
Organized a car club tour, 35 people, had dinner here. Martin was very helpful in arranging the booking, and he and the servers were well-organized and efficient bringing out our pre-arranged meal. The food was reasonably priced and exceeded my expectations in promptness of service,...variety, quality and quantity. I have no hesitation to recommend this venue for group or individual use.More
Dropped in for late lunch en route to Tofino (recommended by a lady we in acar park). Home made food, good portions and a friendly atmosphere. Thank you fora very pleasant lunch!
Had your Eggs Benny and asked the server whether they made their own hollandaise and she said it was, however, as someone who makes her own I know it was clearly packaged. Had a bread pudding that really was not good. Service was very good...though so left a nice tip. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g154926-d760379-r831899360-Bonnie_Martin_Restaurant-Chemainus_Cowichan_Valley_Regional_District_Vancouver_Is.html#More
Pre-covid restrictions with inside dining, had the liver and onions which was delicious, perfectly cooked with the right amount of bacon and liver slices. Not to everyones taste but whenever I get the opportunity I order it. I also ordered the Saturday take out Chinese...special which turned out very well and will order it again. Not much of an atmosphere but makes up for it in its excellent food.More
They have the most extensive menu, it is ALL delicious - especially the War Wonton soup and veggie stir fry - it keeps us coming back :) Great takeout!!!
We were walking by and a local raved about the food saying he ate there every day. We tried it and YUM, it was all so good. Next time I leave room to try the yummy-looking home-baked pies! Thanks!
What excellent home style cooking, plus with the featured evenings of Chinese platters it is a good place to check out
What a great place for breakfast, we both had omelettes, they were delicious. Potatoes, toast, real cheddar cheese, could not of been better.
We went about 20 minutes out of our way to try this restaurant. Came in to order take out and there were two customers in the restaurant. The waitress took my order, while I was waiting about 8 other people came in. I watched almost...all of them get served and receive their food, finally the waitress approached me and asked what I ordered ???? are you kidding me !! I asked what was going on and was told that they lost my order This is a 25 seat restaurant with three staff, how many brain cells do you need to realize that you have served all the other clients except me. I received a very slim attempt at an apology What a terrible way to run a business We will never go backMore
