Honestly…. The food was tasty enough so no issues there. BUT the wait wasn’t a good thing! Arrived with a reservation just after 12:00….took awhile to order…food arrived at 1:20. We ended up taking a few bites and then putting everything in to-go containers. I...know it was Mother’s Day … maybe there were issues with staffing , really not sure. The wait gave us time to visit but we had 2:00 theatre tickets in Chemainus. Maybe we’ll be back ….More

Both burgers (crispy chicken & 50/50 burger) were absolutely amazing. Flavorful, thick, juicy and great portion sizing. Really appreciated the beer menu, which details Light, hoppy, dark, pale, or different. Which helps customer choose based on their preference.

We headed here for dinner this evening, and it was a good choice. My partner, who must dine dairy-free, was very pleased with what was available to her. She chose the 50/50 Burger with half fries and half salad for the side. I chose the...Fish and Chips, and as I had skipped lunch , asked for the 2-piece order. The burger was excellent, and the sides very good. My 2-piece Fish & Chips order came with a dinner plate covered in fries and 3 pieces of fish - a huge order even for a hungry person like me. The fish was lovely, as were the fries. They have an excellent selection of beers on tap - if you haven't tried the Kelp Stout from Tofino Brewing, treat yourself. All in all, a lovely evening out with some very good pub food.More

We came for drinks and apples and managed to catch their happy hour. They offered a wine flight, where you got to choose your three, and I had their Russell dark beer. We had chicken wings, fried bread, and onion rings. So unhealthy but tasted...good. Lots of seating. It was difficult to find the front entrance as you had to walk up a set of stairs from the plaza parking.More

Food and service are great. Good selection of food and craft beer. I did not leave disappointed or hungry. Nice little gem with an inviting atmosphere.

Let start by saying both my wife and I left very disappointed with service, quality of food and an excessively over priced food! We waited for the waitress, and waited...and waited even longer. After 15 mins of sitting and looking around the place, several tables...were empty yet the service was pretty much non-existent. Not a single acknowledgement of, "there is a new table of two who just sat down." Since we weren't wasting anytime order a drink on our waitress did appear; a ceasar and local beer. Again after waiting over another 15 minutes, I watched the drinks sit on the counter at the bar. The tone was already set; keep the dinner order simple! Seafood Linguine and Pulled Pork Mac N Cheese. My wife's seafood linguine appeared to be missing the "sea" in the seafood plate. The pulled pork was lacking flavour and general visual appearance of "pork" overall. At this point we both thought we had certainly eaten at a variety of better venues and cannot understand why the Sawmill is rated #3???? Tip/tax/bill well over $100 and definitely left never to return. I tipped the waitress for working at the Sawmill; not for the service or quality of food. Sadly, we have both local and German guests arriving over the Seasons Holidays and the Sawmill will NOT be a our eating establishments.More

We stopped in here to kill some time before the ferry. Good beer, but our share plate was terrible. The vegetables looked like they had been in the bottom of the fridge drawer for a few weeks, the dips looked like cat puke, and the...tapenade probably tasted something like it. The dipping chips were about the thickness of a sheet of paper making loading them up almost impossible. Kinda ridiculous for $18. Good service though!More

Food is alright, Nothing spectacular. Very disappointed with our last visit. Ordered a platter as an appetizer for $18.00. For that price we expected a decent serving. We were very disappointed to receive 3 dips, 4 each of carrot sticks and celery, with a finger...dip size bowl of wonton chips. When we made a comment about the size of the dips compared to the items for dipping, the waitress agreed the size was pretty small. After returning from the kitchen, she advised us that the cook states he stuffs that little bowl as full as he can, if we want more chips we would be charges for an upgrade. Not a great response. We were disappointed. Considering our dinner for two plus a 6 year old came to $140. Shame on them for treating their patrons so poorly. We will not be returning. I have heard the same from others who have had similar experiences.More

My wife and I were very disappointed with our lunch yesterday. Sawmill used to be one of our favourite pubs on the island. The service and food have been getting worse each visit. Unfortunately this will be our last time. Their beef dip used to...be the best, generous portion and great flavour. Yesterday there was less than a quarter inch of beef. We mentioned it to our server. She said it is all preportioned and it looks like I got a small portion. She wouldnt do anything, It used to come with fries and salad, not anymore. Plus its way more expensive now. My wife mushroom burger was just as bad. She had to search for any mushrooms. Plus the service was nonexistant. Really too bad. Used to be a great spot.More

We were very disappointed with our lunch today. Sawmill used to be one of our favorite pubs on the island. Their beef dip used to be excellent, generous serving of beef. Today the beef was less than a quarter inch thick. It used to come...with fries and salad. Not anymore. We pointed it out to the waitress that there was hardly any meat. This was a new spot for us, and we're glad we gave it a try. We arrived about 4 to 4:30 and were seated right away; by 5:30, the place was very busy and some people had reservations, so it's popular. Really good server -...she was pleasant and very quick, but not obtrusive. Average prices, and the food was really good - and a lot of it!More

The food was superb. Great service as well. We always stop in the restaurant on our way up island. The Cajun chicken burger with Caesar salad was fanatic. Fresh and large portions for a fair price. Highly recommended!!

Still no food at the 1 hour mark and to be told that they had run out of...the soup, 4 people in our party had ordered that as an appitizer.... new orders in .... Next up No meatballs.....now 5 people waiting for the Chili prawns. 4 arrive and not the 5th. Have to ask about it. Lots of apologies but no sincere effort to fix the situation...
