Stopped in for late dinner and the fish and chips were awesome. It was very busy and crapped in this small restaurant but there is outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Good service but be prepared because like all places in Dawson City prices...are quite high.More
We enjoyed our meal and the choices of beer. The staff were friendly however the service was slow. I noticed others have commented on this as well. In all fairness my understanding is that this town relies on students to staff through the tourist season....The town was full of tourists. I am sure there were more tourists in town than local residents. Due to the location of Dawson I am guessing it is no easy task getting staff to come up and work for the summer. I have to commend the town, as well as the whole province of the Yukon, they manage to run their whole province on the population of the city I live near. No easy task!More
First off, there is no sourdough bread here. The people in the area Yukon/Alaska were called sourdoughs, that doesn't men you get bread.
Our group tried the poutine, fried cod, burgers, chili, and seafood chowder. I found the poutine "meh" but don't think I'm a...big fan of it in general. Everything else was quite tasty and the portions were quite reasonable. The chowder was heavier on veg then seafood, which wasn't a shock, and a bit on the salty side for my taste. The picnic tables outside were a little too rustic, so we ate indoors which had limited space.More
I had the 2 patty burger as I was super hungry. Based upon other restaurants in town, I expected that the portion would be average. When I saw the portion, I was surprised. The burger was huge, flavourful and satisfying. I couldn't quite finish it...but it was just great. There is an outdoor seating area also so you can enjoy the weather. The service, too, was spot on. You should check this place out.More
Visit started with us taking a seat outside for sun not being in our eyes. The tables were all very dusty and a couple bird droppings. We asked to have bird droppings wiped up and that was literally what happened. I asked for the rag...back to wipe the dust off the table myself. Menus were very dusty/gritty too. Waitress said patio had not been used for a while because first sunny day. The day before was excellent weather so not sure about that....
Ordered one piece halibut fish and chips. The fries were piping hot and the fish was excellent with light batter coating. The tartar sauce was quite bland - most likely out of a jar - and the coleslaw was really nondescript. These garnishes added nothing but could have put this meal over the top.
Service was quite quick. Price was ok for Dawson City.More
Don't waste your time. Advertisement out front said they offered the Best Fish and Chips in town. They fail to tell us until we were seated that they have no desserts, shrimp, steak, halibut, or calamari and this isn't something that happened just today; according...to the waitress they've been out of these items for weeks. What we finally did order was tasteless and awful expensive. We had been told to expect a GREAT time in Dawson City. Must be another Dawson City - everyone was rude, most of the places we visited were closed (1600 on a Monday), and what shops were open were short on stock. I know this is a seasonal town, but we saw several full tourist buses come into town. I can only hope those folks demanded their money back.More
