We were so pleased with our lunch that we went back again during our trip and wished we had been able to breakfast there as well.
The soup was original, the bread was wonderful and everything was homemade. There are twenty sandwiches to choose from...that all look appetizing and may be chosen with the daily soup and sandwich special.
The coffee was good too.
Service, food and price all exceeded our expectations.More
We stopped by for lunch as they had lots of sandwich choices, salads, and quiche to choose from for lunch. You basically order and pay and then they bring the order to you, in the case of sandwhichs. Bakery items you can just buy and...eat. Place has limited tables and I am sure can be crowded at lunch. Food is good. Baked goods are good.More
As long as you know what you are getting into, this is an OK place to grab a quick lunch. They also offer takeout. My experience wasn't great. First of all, if you are new to the place, the menu is listed on one wall....If you happen to be sitting on the wrong side of the table, be prepared to strain you neck as you check out the options. The tables are packed into the place. Sure they need to make money during the peak times but the tables are so close, it invades my personal space. The food offerings are basic. Many items look like they are made elsewhere and heated up for you (meat pies, sausage rolls etc). You are looking at spending about $8. for a sandwich which is accompanied by a small handful of Kettle Chips and garnished salad (not a side salad). Despite this, they are jammed at peak times so either take out but don't expect to get a table. Breakfast and Lunch only; close at 3 pm.More
Let me firstly say the staff was happy and friendly and the presentation of the food was good. However most of the food we ate was less than substandard. The coffee was at best weak. The spit pea and ham soup was disgusting inedible slop....Touted as home made it was over cooked with chunks of soup base floating around. The salad had lots of variety but was cut up such that the forks wouldn't pick it up and the salad seemed wet so that when the also tasteless homemade salad dressing was added it left the salad wet and slimy and impossible to to pick up. The shepherds pie, we were served a very small portion with almost no potato, and what was there was not crispy, it looked like they just scraped the dredges from the bottom of a pan and served to us. The three legged tables are too small with too many tables and chairs in crammed in a small space.More
Grabbed Romanian pastrami on rye and poached chicken almond sandwiches for 16 dollars. Both were excellent and while eating them I couldn't stop myself from thinking what I would be ordering next on the menu. It must be the bread that puts the sandwiches over...the top. Pearsons and fezzwigs, definitely my go to sandwich locations.More
Lovely litte cafe. You need to get there early for lunch to get a seat. Wonderful little lunch. Half sandwich and small bowl of soup, small salad with a fantastic homemade dressing little pile of potato chips. I love the dishes and the presentation is...beautiful. They have a bakery and nice selection of breads and desserts.More
